Sr11Ge4N6: A New Nitride Composed of [GeN2Sr7]4+ Antiperovskite-Type Slabs
and [Sr4Ge]4+ Layers, Separated by Sheets of Bent [GeIIN2]4- Ions. — The layered
nitride Sr11Ge4N6 is prepared by reaction of Sr and Ge with NaN3 at 900 °C (Ta-lined
Ni tube, 2 d). The compound crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P4/nbm with
Z = 2 (single crystal XRD). The unprecedented intergrowth structure contains Ge4Zintl ions which are present in both [Sr4Ge]4+ layers and [GeN2Sr 7]4+ antiperovskite-type slabs. The two layer types are separated by sheets of bent [GeIIN2]4- ions; the observed range of formal germanium oxidation states in nitrides thus extends between
