Ring-Opening Reactions of Methylenecyclopropanes with Diphenyl Diselenide
Heating; Formation of 3-Phenylselenyl-2,5-dihydrofuran Derivatives. —

The reactions of methylenecyclopropanes (I) and (V) with diselenide (II) affords
ring-opened products (III) and (VI) in good yields. These products can further undergo
oxidative cyclization with hydrogen peroxide to furnish dihydrofuran derivatives, such
as (IV). A reaction mechanism involving allenes, e.g. (VII), is proposed. — (LIU,
