Crystal Growth, Structural Characterization, and Linear Thermal Evolution of
KGd(PO3)4. — Single crystals of the title compound are synthesized by the top-seeded
solution growth slow cooling method from mixtures of Gd2O3, K2CO3, and NH4H2PO4.
As revealed by powder XRD, KGd(PO3)4 is isostructural with KNd(PO3)4 (monoclinic,
space group P21, Z = 2). The material is regarded as a promising new laser host that can
also be easily doped with any other lanthanide ion and does not deform at high temperature because of its almost isotropic expansion. — (PARREU, I.; SOLE, R.;
