Magnetic Cobalt Nanowire Thin Films. — Thin films of Co nanowires with
nm diameters are electrodeposited using two- and three-dimensional mesopo19- 011 3—10
rous silica as templates. The films show ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature
and exhibit higher coercitivities compared to bulk Co films. Two-dimensional nanowires are magnetically anisotropic, whereas three-dimensional nanowires are isotropic
with identical coercitivities and remanent magnetization in the parallel and perpendicular directions. Such novel magnetic nanowire thin films may provide a new platform
