(C4N3H15)[(BO2)2(GeO2)4]: The First Organically Templated 3D Borogermanate
Showing 1D 12-Rings, Large Channels, and a Novel Zeolite-Type Framework
Topology Constructed from Ge8O24 and B 2O7 Cluster Units. — The new organically templated borogermanate (III) crystallize with a novel zeolite-type topology in the
monoclinic space group P21/c with Z = 4 (single crystal XRD). The structure contains
cyclic Ge8O24 units formed by eight vertex-sharing GeO4 tetrahedra and B2O7 double-tetrahedra. The Ge8O24 clusters are connected to each other via common vertices to
form two-dimensional layers with 8,12-nets. Adjacent layers are interconnected by the
B2O7 dimers resulting in a three-dimensional [(BO2)4(GeO2)8 ]4n n- framework with
12- and 8-ring channels along the a and b axes, respectively. Charge balance is provided
by the diprotonated organic amine molecules located in the 12-ring channels. —
