Production of Fe—Ti—Si Alloys from the Ilmenite Ore and Their Magnetic Properties. — The title alloys are prepared directly from ilmenite (FeTiO3) ore by means of
21- 219 molten
Si equilibrated with molten slag materials containing CaO, SiO2, Al2O3, and
CaF2 (N2, 1773 K). The samples consist mostly of either the FeTiSi or FeTiSi2 phase
depending on the amount of Si used. The prepared alloys exhibit attractively high Curie
temperatures of 728 (FeTiSi) and 917 K (FeTiSi2). However, the saturation magnetization of the phases is relatively small compared to other Fe compounds. — (SAITO*,
