Solution-Based Chemical Synthesis of Boehmite Nanofibers and Alumina Nano— AlO(OH) nanofibers are synthesized by a modified sol—gel process from
21- 222 rods.
mixtures of a 0.1 M Al(iPrO)3 solution in EtOH and EtOH/4% H2O. Dehydration of the
viscous sol at 600 °C for 4 h in air yields γ-Al2O3 nanorods. The samples are characterized by XPS, IR, SEM, and TEM. The AlO(OH) nanofibers are longer than 10 µm and
exhibit a crystalline lattice structure. The diameter of the γ-Al2O3 nanorods is less than
