Study of Structure and Magnetic Properties of the Perovskite Tb0.5Sr0.5CoO3. —
title compound is prepared by solid state reaction of a stoichiometric mixture

of Tb4O7, SrCO3, and Co3O4 (1. 1000 °C, 56 h; 2. 1150 °C, 30 h). Tb0.5Sr 0.5CoO3 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbnm as determined by Rietveld refinement
of powder neutron diffraction data recorded at 12, 50, 100, and 300 K. The compound
is ferromagnetic with TC = 120 K. The ordered magnetic moment is found to be
1.57 µB/Co atom at 12 K and the effective magnetic moment µeff is 2.54 µB/formula
unit. The role of the ionic size on the magnetic and transport properties through the
