Single-Crystalline LaB6 Nanowires. — The title nanowires with diameters smaller
100 nm and lengths larger than a few tens of micrometers are synthesized by chem23- 234 than
ical vapor deposition from gaseous mixtures of LaCl3, BCl3, and H2 at 1150 °C. The
samples are characterized by TEM and HRTEM. The potential applications of LaB6
nanowires include thermionic emission, field-induced emission, and thermal field-induced emission of electrons for TEM, SEM, flat panel displays, as well as other electronic devices that require high-performance electron sources. — (ZHANG, H.;
