In situ Synthesis and Properties of Carbon-Coated LiFePO4 as Li-Ion Battery
Cathodes. — The title composites are synthesized by solid state reaction of stoichiometric amounts of FePO4·4H2O and LiOH·H 2O using polypropylene as reductant and
carbon source (500—800 °C, 10 h). The composite material prepared at 700 °C has a
high electrochemical capacity of 164 mAh/g at the 0.1C rate and possesses a favorable
capacity cycling maintenance at the 0.3 and 0.5C rates. The low cost of the precursor
compounds, the simple synthesis process, and the improved electrochemical performances of the obtained materials suggest that the in situ synthesis may be a promising
method for the mass production of LiFePO4 cathode materials. — (MI, C. H.; ZHAO,
