New d0 Transition Metal Iodates: Synthesis, Structure, and Characterization of
BaTi(IO3)6, LaTiO(IO3)5, Ba2VO2(IO3)4·(IO3), K2MoO2(IO3)4, and
24- 030 BaMoO2(IO3)4·H2O. — The structures of the title compounds are determined by single
crystal XRD. (IV) crystallizes in the trigonal space group R3 with Z = 3, (VI) and (XII)
in the monoclinic space group P21/n with Z = 4, (VIII) in the monoclinic space group
P21/c (Z = 4), and (XI) in the monoclinic space group C2/c (Z = 4). All compounds
have zero-dimensional or pseudo-one-dimensional crystal structures composed of MO6
(M: Ti4+, V 5+, or Mo6+ ) octahedra connected to IO3 polyhedra. Compound (VIII) additionally contains a completely unbound IO-3 anion, that interacts with the Ba2+ cations.
The compounds are further characterized by IR and Raman spectroscopy, TGA, and
