Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Sulfide M2S3 (M: Bi, Sb) Nanorods Using an
Liquid. — Single crystalline nanorods of the title compounds are synthesized
24- 211 Ionic
from solutions of Bi2O3 (Sb2O3), Na2S2O3, and HCl in [bmim]BF4/ethylene glycol
(HO-(CH2)2-NH2)/H2O under microwave heating [190 (165) °C, 30 s (40 min)]. The
ionic liquid plays an important role in the morphology of the synthesized nanoparticles.
In the absence of the ionic liquid, urchin-like Bi2S3 structures consisting of nanorods
and single crystalline Sb2S3 nanosheets are obtained. It is expected that the microwave-assisted ionic liquid method may be extended to fast synthesis of nanostructures
