Crystal Structure and Magnetism of the Double Perovskite Sr3Fe2MoO9: A NeuDiffraction Study. — As revealed by neutron powder diffraction the title com26- 007 tron
pound crystallizes in the tetragonal space group I4/m at room temperature. The structure contains alternating FeO6 and (Fe,Mo)O6 octahedra. Magnetic measurements indicate that the compound is a weak ferromagnet below 280 K. The compound, containing
a random distribution of Fe and Mo at the B positions, exhibits a strong magnetic scattering on the low-angle Bragg positions originating from groups of Fe3+ cations in
which strong antiferromagnetic superexchange interactions are promoted. —
