Synthesis of CoOOH Nanorods and Application as Coating Materials of Nickel
for High Temperature Ni—MH Cells. — The title nanorods are synthe26- 162 Hydroxide
sized from a solution of (COOH)2 and CoSO4 at 45 °C followed by treatment of the
obtained precipitate with NaOH and 30% H2O2 solution (60 °C, 16 h). The samples are
characterized by TEM, XRD, and SEM. The nanorods have length of about
100—200 nm and diameters of 10—15 nm. Ni—metal hydride cells with positive electrodes composed of nickel hydroxide coated with the nm-sized CoOOH particles
exhibit high capacity and excellent discharge performance at elevated temperatures
