Synthesis, Characterizations and Spectral Properties of a New One-Dimensional
Organically Templated Zincophosphite. — The new compound (enH2)[Zn(HPO3)2]
is prepared hydrothermally from a mixture of ZnO, H3PO3, and en in H2O/EtOH (autoclave, 433 K, 5 d, 70% yield). As revealed by single crystal XRD, the compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z = 4. The structure contains corner-sharing ZnO4 and HPO3 tetrahedra forming infinite four-membered ring chains.
(H2en) 2+ ions occupying the interspaces interconnect the chains via hydrogen bonds to
form a novel organic—inorganic layered-like stack. The title compound shows a broad
emission band between 350 and 500 nm when excited with 340 nm UV light. —
