Preparation of Nanosized Perovskites and Spinels Through a Silica Xerogel Template Route. — Aggregates of nanosized perovskites and spinels such as LaMnO3,
27- 209 LaFeO
3, CuCr2O4, CuMn2O4, Co3O4, and NiMn2O 4 with particle sizes below 15 nm are
synthesized by means of a low-cost silica xerogel template route from appropriate mixtures of solutions of the hydrated metal nitrates in EtOH at a moderate temperature of
60 °C. The samples are characterized by XRD and TEM. The specific surface areas obtained by the template method are in general considerably larger than those attained by
