Structure of Fast Ion Conductors Li3xLa 2/3-xTiO3 Deduced from Powder Neutron
Diffraction Experiments. — Two samples of the title compound (x = 0.067 and
0.167) are characterized by high-temperature powder neutron diffraction. The elimination of the octahedral tilting is responsible for the orthorhombic-to-tetragonal transition
in Li0.2La0.6TiO3 (space group Cmmm) and for the rhombohedral-to-cubic transition in
Li0.5La0.5TiO3 (space group R3c). Detailed analysis of four phases show that distortions
of LaO12 cubooctahedra depend on octahedral tilting and on the vacancy distribution
adopted by the perovskite. The influence of these two structural parameters on Li ion
