Effect of Atomic Ordering on the Catalytic Activity of Carbon Supported PtM
(M: Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu) Alloys for Oxygen Reduction in PEMFCs. — As revealed
by XRD the PtFe and PtCo title alloys have an ordered structure while the PtNi and
PtCu alloy have a disordered fcc structure. The alloys with ordered structure show higher catalytic activity with lower polarization losses than Pt and the disordered PtM alloys
for oxygen reduction in PEMFCs (proton exchange membrane fuel cells). The reasons
for the enhanced catalytic activity of the ordered alloys are discussed. — (XIONG, L.;
