The Crystal Structure of a New Ternary Antimonide: TmCu4-xSb2 (x = 1.065). —
The title compound is synthesized by arc melting of the constituent elements followed
by annealing at 870 K (30 d). As revealed by powder XRD, TmCu2.935Sb 2 crystallizes
in the orthorhombic space group Pnnm with Z = 2 (low temperature modification of the
ErFe4Ge2-type structure). The shortening of the interatomic distances Tm—Sm and
Cu—Sb indicates partially covalent bonds, and a partially trivalent state of the Sb
