Enantioselective Synthesis of Cyanohydrins by a Novel Aluminum Catalyst. —
Asymmetric cyanosilylation of aldehydes (I) with reasonable yields and enantioselectivities is achieved by enantioselective addition of trimethylsilylcyanide (II) to (I) in
the presence of the aluminum catalyst. In order to generate effective catalysts, di-, tri-,
and tetravalent metals are complexed with the chiral ligand. Trimethylaluminum provides the best metal source for the catalytic system. However, the real nature of the
