Valence and Structural Transitions in the Pseudo-Ternary Germanide
Ce(Rh0.69Ir0.31)Ge. — The title compound is characterized by DSC, magnetization
measurements, and single crystal XRD at 300, 150, and 100 K. It crystallizes in the in
the space group Pnma with Z = 4. In the temperature range 236—258 K the compound
undergoes a first-order valence transition with Ce being in an intermediate valence state
over the whole temperature range, with essentially trivalent Ce below 200 K and an
essentially tetravalent valence state above 300 K. The valence transition is correlated
to a structural transition appearing between 300 and 150 K. — (GAUDIN, E.;
