A series of novel trans-propenes, e.g. (VII), (X), and (XI) are synthesized by analogous
routes and screened for their cytotoxic activity in vitro and in vivo. Compounds (VIIb)
and (XI) show significant cytotoxicity in in vitro testing, and derivative (XIa) exhibits
