Structure and Physical Properties of Ternary Antimonide YbCrSb3. —
title compound is prepared by arc melting of the elements and single crystals are
33- 011 The
grown in a Sn flux (evacuated silica tube, 1000 °C, 10 h). YbCrSb3 crystallizes in the
orthorhombic space group Pbcm (Z = 4) and is isostructural with LaCrSb3 and
CeCrSb3. Electrical resistivity measurements on single crystals and magnetic susceptibility measurements on powders reveal a magnetic ordering transition at TC ≅ 280 K.
The isothermal magnetization at 100 K indicates an approach to saturation, but with
low values (0.08 µB/mol at 9 T). These results suggest a ferromagnetic or canted antiferromagnetic structure. — (CRERAR, S. J.; DEAKIN, L.; MAR*, A.; Chem. Mater.
