Preparation of Y3Al 5O12:Cr Powders by Microwave-Induced Combustion Process
and Their Luminescent Properties. — The title compound is synthesized by microwave-induced combustion of an aqueous solution containing the metal nitrates and
CO(NH-NH2)2. The formation of the Y3Al 5O12:Cr phase occurs at rather low temperature (≈1100 °C), when compared with conventional solid state processes (>1600 °C).
The samples are characterized by XRD, IR, and emission and excitation spectroscopy.
The emission intensity of the prepared powders increases gradually with Cr content.
