Selective Deprotection of Fully Benzoylated Nucleoside Derivatives. — Secondary
hydroxyl groups in nucleosides (I) and (V) can be deprotected by control33- 249 benzoylated
ling the amount of ammonia, reaction time and temperature. This method requires no
particular precaution and implies an easy work-up unlike the method utilizing sodium
methoxide. Selective deprotection of acetylated nucleoside (III) is achieved using a reduced amount of ammonia whereas an excess of ammonia increases the ratio of the
2',3'-deprotected nucleoside. To generalize this method, the tetra-O-benzoylated glucopyranoside (VII) is selectively debenzoylated by the use of a well-defined concentration of ammonia. — (ZERROUKI*, R.; ROY, V.; HADJ-BOUAZZA, A.;
