Apparent Two-Dimensional Behavior of TiO2 Nanotubes Revealed by Light Aband Luminescence. — Colloidal TiO2 nanotubes, prepared by the alkali hy33- 277 sorption
drothermal method, are characterized at room temperature by optical absorption and
photoluminescence spectroscopy in the range of 300—700 nm. Changing the internal
diameter of the nanotubes does not change the position of absorption and emission
bands. The electronic structure of TiO2 nanotubes is very close to that of TiO2
nanosheets. This is explained by the complete thermal smearing of all one-dimensional
effects, due to the large effective mass of charge carriers in TiO2, resulting in an apparent two-dimensional behavior of the TiO2 nanotubes. — (BAVYKIN*, D. V.;
