Crystal Structure of the New Ternary Silicides Dy18 Pt50+xSi16-x (x = 0.28) and
Y18Pt 50+xSi16-x (x = 0.56). — As revealed by single crystal XRD the title compounds
crystallize in the space group P4/mbm with Z = 1 in a new structure type. Coordination
numbers of the three crystallographically independent Dy and Y atoms are 18, 15, and
12 and those of the Pt atoms range from 9 to 12. Typical Pt polyhedra are distorted cuboctahedra and the characteristic Si coordination polyhedra are triangular prisms with
