magnesium bromide and carbon dioxide react with Cp2ZrCl2 to yield a oxazirconacyclopentanone intermediate which undergoes a Cu(I)- or Ni(0)-promoted reaction with
various electrophiles to afford a variety of carbocylic acids. Addition of acetylenes prior to carbon dioxide allows the preparation of α,β-unsaturated acids. —
