Nitroaldol-Reaction of Aldehydes in the Presence of Non-Activated Mg:Al 2:1 HyA Possible New Mechanism for the Formation of 2-Aryl-1,3-dinitro35- 078 drotalcite:
propanes. — The hydrotalcite shown in the scheme is found to be a highly efficient
catalyst for the nitroaldol reaction. It allows simple, eco-friendly, and diastereoselective
synthesis of 2-nitroalkanols. At 100 °C formation of 1,3-dinitro compounds such as
(IV) is possible which likely proceeds via ionic intermediates instead of dehydrated
