Barium Chlorite Hydrate, Ba(ClO2)2�5H2O. ? The crystal structure of the title
compound is determined by single crystal XRD at 150 K. Ba(ClO2)2�5H2O crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z = 8. The structure contains layers of
Ba2+ cations coordinated by C lO-2 anions and water molecules. Ba2+ is surrounded by
all in all 10 oxygen atoms belonging to 6 C lO-2 ions and 3 H2O molecules, forming a
bicapped square antiprism. In addition to the H2O molecules coordinated to Ba2+ , there
are H2O solvate molecules which are involved only in hydrogen bonding between the
