Structural, Conductivity and Dielectric Studies in (NH4)2SeO4·Te(OH) 6. — Single
of the title compound are grown by slow evaporation of an aqueous solution of
36- 012 crystals
(NH4)2CO 3 and H6SeO4. (NH4)2SeO4·Te(OH) 6 crystallizes in the monoclinic space
group P21/c with Z = 4. The structure consists of alternating layers of Te(OH)6 octahedra and SeO4 tetrahedra and intercalated N H+4 ions. The DSC curve shows three distinct endothermal peaks at 415, 433, and 443 K. The evolution of the dielectric constant
as a function of frequency and temperature reveals one anomaly at about 433 K attributed to a ferro-paraelectric phase transition. The conductivity versus temperature plot
exhibits a strong jump at 443 K indicating a super-ionic—protonic phase transition.
