Nanocrystalline FexNi 1-x (x ≤ 0.65) Alloys Formed by Chemical Synthesis. — The
title alloys (x = 0.15, 0.20, 0.22, 0.25, 0.30, 0.50, 0.65) are prepared from aqueous solutions of NiCl2 and FeCl2 at 353 K by reduction with previously deprotonated hydrazine hydrate. The metal ratios in the solutions are preserved in the precipitated powder
alloys and no metal segregation is detected. The samples are characterized by XRD,
Moessbauer spectroscopy, TEM, and DSC measurements. The fcc phase is observed
for x = 0.15—0.50, while both fcc and bcc phases are present for x = 0.65. The materials consist of nanoparticles with a mean diameter of 90 nm which are composed of
several nanocrystallites surrounded by a low density structurally disordered region.
