Low-Temperature Polyol Synthesis of AuCuSn2 and AuNiSn2: Using Solution
Chemistry to Access Ternary Intermetallic Compounds as Nanocrystals. —
Compounds (IV) are characterized by powder XRD and TEM. (IVa) crystallizes in the
hexagonal space group P6m2. The structure consists of an ordered hexagonal close
packed array of Au and Cu in alternating layers with Sn occupying the octahedral holes.
Both compounds are not observed in bulk systems using traditional synthetic techniques. The nanocrystalline samples are stabilized using low-temperature solution
