P—T Phase Diagram and Single Crystal Structural Refinement of NaMn7O12. —
The title compound is synthesized by solid state reaction of mixtures of MnO2, Mn2O3,
and NaOH. The most appropriate conditions for obtaining large crystals are 60 kbar,
830 °C, 1 h. As revealed by single crystal XRD, the compound crystallizes in the cubic
space group Im3 with Z = 2. The crystal structure is a rather unusual ABO3 perovskite,
in which the Mn cations occupy simultaneously the B sites and 3/4 of the A sites. The
remaining 1/4 of the A sites are occupied by the Na+ cations. — (GILIOLI*, E.;
