Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea said
the Adidas ball was “really strange – it
could have been made a lot better”.
Germany keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, who plays for Barcelona, also said:
“The ball could be better. It moves a lot.’’
And Pepe Reina, who plays for Spain
and Napoli, said: “It is covered by a plastic film that hinders grip.”
England’s players have been practising
with the balls at their training camp.
But a source said: “You never really
know how they behave until you’re playing a proper match.”
An FA spokesman said: “The players
have used it in training. Nothing out

Experts at Swiss

The Star Says:

The Three Lions’ squad will not get the

in match conditions until next week’s

That is because the FA signed a £34million-a-year contract with rival sports
giants Nike to provide the national

Germany, Spain, Brazil and host nation

Get tough
on touts
IT COMES to something when
pop star Ed Sheeran is sorting out
the tout scandal instead of the
Government.
The ginger singer has taken matters
into his own hands by cancelling
thousands of tickets for his sell-out
gigs bought up by scalpers and rip-off
resale sites.
He then refunds fans and offers
them face value entry.
What a palaver.
Minsters should have declared war
on the blaggers a long time ago.
It’s not as if they’re hard to catch.
The shysters stand outside concerts
and sports venues flogging their inflated tickets, often in front of police.
And online companies openly make
vast profits from the same scam,
often targeting kids and teens.
Digital Minister Margot James said
yesterday if fans must use a resale
site, “don’t choose Viagogo, they are
the worst”.
The firm has finally been referred to
National Trading Standards over
sneaky extra fees.
It’s time to put these con artists
out of business.

FIFA’S ball boffins have been at it

Every tournament keepers live in
fear of the wacky experiments its
creators will pull to make the “perfect”

And Adidas’s Telstar appears no

The men between the sticks are already complaining it’s “a nightmare”.
To make matters worse, the last two
winners of football’s showpiece –
Germany and Spain – have already
tested it out in a friendly. As if they
need an extra advantage?
Of course Adidas are banking on
making a killing on it, selling it online
for £129.95.
Let’s hope England stoppers Jack
Butland, Jordan Pickford and Nick
Pope manage to get their hands on
one early.

The former Lib Dem MP and married dad of two was forced to resign in

LOVE Island stars will be paid just

new series, it is claimed.
They will earn only £200 a week
during their stay in Majorca.
But they are expected to make a
fortune in lucrative sponsorship
deals and telly work afterwards.
A source revealed: “This time next
year they could be rolling in it.”
But if they’re not going for the
money, it could be a chance for
some of them to get over heartache.
Dani Dyer, 21, from Essex, had one
long-term romance for four years
and a second short-lived one.
She moaned: “I’ve been single for
nearly two years.”
And Scots cabin crew worker
Laura Anderson has had nine failed
romances including a recent
break-up which led to her quitting
her home in Dubai. “It broke my

Biggest invasion ever on way
BRITAIN is facing the biggest
ever invasion of flying ants
this summer
A record 50billion bugs will attack
our homes and pest controllers say
there has already been a 150% rise in
infestations in just two months.
Rentokil claims the surge means Flying
Ant Day, the start of the insects’ mating
season, could be as early as next
month. The explosion of numbers
is down to warmer weather in
April and May.
David Cross, inset, head of
the technical training academy at Rentokil, said: “Last
month we saw reported
ant infestations rise to
levels we wouldn’t usually
expect until June or July.
“It’s rare to see ant infestations in cold or overcast weather and, while The Beast From
■ by ANTONY THROWER
The East may have caused them to remain
dormant in March, the sudden change in
temperature has since brought them out
in their droves.”
Experts have warned the flying beasts
“can and will” bite or sting humans if they
feel threatened. But many of the menaces
don’t survive 24 hours as the males die
after mating and millions more are
feasted on by birds.
One wag tweeted: “I HATE
FLYING ANT DAY!!! The little
b******* always swarm me at
the shops!”
And another joked: “When
is flying ant day this year? I
still haven’t started the shopping for it. We’re having a

A YEAR after the terrible

In her first interview since the

Ariana told The Fader: “I guess I

Therapy is the best. It really is.”
And in turn she’s been able to be her
most vulnerable on LP Sweetener.
The American star continued: “The
thing that makes me feel OK with opening up and finally allowing myself to be
vulnerable is that I know my fans feel
the same feelings.
“I’ve talked to them about it. I have
fans that have become friends of mine.
I have their numbers and we talk all the

the session writing it for you. Here is
my bleeding heart and here is a trap

GAY WEDDING
AN OZ FIRST
NEIGHBOURS
DING dong! Ramsay Street is gearing up for a
groundbreaking wedding!
Hunks Aaron (Matt Wilson) and David (Takaya
Honda) are set to get hitched.
And, as our first-look snaps show, they are
both dapper on their big day.
It will be the first same-sex wedding ever
to air on an Australian TV show.
Matt said: “We are both ecstatic to be part
of this huge moment in Australian television and it stands alone as the highlight
of my career.”
Takaya added: “It is an absolute privilege to be a part of what will be a historic
moment in Australian television.
“There have been so many parts of
David’s story that have given me a great
sense of pride.”
Neighbours bosses penned the storyline after same-sex marriage was finally
legalised in Australia
last December.
Executive producer Jason Herbison said: “This is
a story that we have been
working on for a long time
and during that time our country was trapped in a divisive
referendum.”
● The wedding will air in September on the long-running
Channel 5 soap, which is on
weekdays at 1.45pm and
5.30pm.

Sascha will suffer a serious

Aussie hunk Sascha said: “I

Pyramid Support Pillow
Sleep better and feel better on

THREE puffy-faced suspects allegedly ran off
without paying for more
than £2,000 worth of
Botox treatments.
The trio, two women and a
man, are said to have received
procedures which boosted
their lips and cheeks.
AT LARGE: Trio with swollen faces
Hilarious wanted pictures
issued by police show their faces
looking swollen.
The man’s cheeks in particular
appear stretched and tightened
by previous procedures.
All three are claimed to have
legged it after being given the
treatments at Persona cosmetic
medicine clinic in Bexley, Kent.
Celebrities treated at the clinic
in the past include the singer
Kerry Katona, who had her teeth
whitened there, and model Bianca Gascoigne.
Police in Bexley said: “The
three suspects received treatments worth over £2,000 and then
ran out of the premises without
paying for the work.”
The snaps released for the public were taken before their latest
round of cosmetic work.
One social media user commented about the wanted trio:
“The bloke has had some serious
work done, the women look like
they still need work doing.”
Another wrote: “Why on earth
would they allow pictures to be
taken before the treatment if
they were planning to do this?”
Wailing jailing
A MAN who repeatedly belted out Don’t Cry For Me Argentina while half-naked at his window has been jailed.
Peter Robinson-Graham, of Carlisle, subjected his elderly neighbours to months of misery with his singing.
District Judge Christopher Dodd ruled at the city’s
County Court that his antics had put him in breach of an
injunction imposed on an earlier occasion.
Robinson-Graham, 78, was jailed for 18 weeks.

Don’t let the cost of travel
insurance ruin your trip
Shop around for the right
policy and save hundreds!
When you spend years saving up for that special
trip, the last thing you want to find is that your travel
insurance is unaffordable or takes a hefty lump away
from your spending money. That’s what happened
to reader Mr Saw, 72 from Cumbria, who had been
saving for a trip to Malaysia for his 50th wedding
anniversary.
Mr Saw said: “After booking the holiday, we
decided to check with SAGA, and I couldn’t believe
it when they told me that my travel insurance would
cost almost £600. After seeing Payingtoomuch.com
advertised, I decided to give them a call and spoke to
a friendly and helpful travel insurance team member
who went through the questions with me. I was thrilled
to be told that the policy would only cost £239, over
£300 cheaper than SAGA quoted me.”
Chris Pannell from Payingtoomuch.com said: “We
use several travel insurance underwriters that we work
closely with to ensure that our clients receive excellent
value for money.”
