3 Claims.
This'inventio'n relates to fender tools, and its
general object is to provide a tool that is prima
rily designed and capable for use in forming,
straightening or reforming the rolled or beaded

The jaw member 4 includes a ‘relatively'iwide
body portion 9 and outwardly beyond the body

A further object of the invention is to provide
a fender tool of the character set forth, by which
receive a headed pin II for pivotally securing
the companion members together.
10 excellent results can be obtained in that it is
capable of bending cold metal with relative ease,
and is simple in construction, inexpensive to
manufacture and extremely efficient in opera
tion, use and service.
15
This invention also consists in certain other
features of construction and in the combination
and arrangement of the several parts, to be
hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the ac
companying drawing and speci?cally pointed out
in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail, reference
will be had to the accompanying drawing where
in like characters denote like or corresponding
parts throughout the several views, and in
25 which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the tool which
forms the subject matter of the present inven
tion.
Figure 2 is a similar view with the tool in open
30 position and inverted with respect to the posi
tion thereof, as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the tool in closed
position.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be
35 noted that my tool is in the form of pliers in that
it includes a pair of cooperating companion
members each including a handle and the han
dles are indicated respectively by the reference
numerals I and 2. Formed on the handles are
jaw members 3 and 4 disposed in face to face
relation and the jaw members from the handles
| and 2 are reduced on the confronting sides
thereof, so that the handles are arranged sub
stantially in the same plane as best shown in
45 Figure 3.
The jaw member 3 extends at an inclined an
The jaw member 4 is provided with an arcu
ate slot l2 arranged in the body portion 9 there
of and extending laterally from the confronting
therewith, and the channeled portion extends
laterally beyond the opposite sides of the jaw
member 4 to provide ample seating surface for
the head, as will be apparent upon inspection 25
of Figure 3.
The handle member I may have formed there
with a boss l5 for use as a hammer head, and the
jaw members and the handles may be reduced as
at l6 and I‘! respectively, to lighten the weight 30
of the tool, if desired. However, it will be ob
vious that in the use of my tool it is arranged
with respect to a fender or the like in a manner
whereby the edge of the fender will be disposed
between the head 1 and the channeled portion 35
l4. Movement of the handles l and 2 toward
each other will cause the head and channeled
portion to grip the metal of the fender and shape
the same in rolled formation, thereby produc
ing ?nished work which is perfect in every de 40
tail.
'
It is thought from the foregoing description
that the advantages and novel features of the
invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be 45
made in the construction and in the combination
gle from the handle I and is thence curved to
and arrangement of the several parts, provided
that such changes fall within the scope of the

latter is a headed pin l3 that is mounted in the
slot I 2 for guiding the jaw members in their 15
movement, as will be apparent upon inspection
of Figure 2.
The jaw member 4 likewise includes a chan
neled portion [4 arranged thereon in a manner
whereby the channel is disposed in the path of 20

provide an arcuate portion 5 which has formed
therewith an inturned hook portion 6, the latter
terminating in an enlarged head 1 extending
toward the arcuate portion and inwardly of the
longitudinal axis of the handle I, as will be noted
upon inspection of Figure 2. The head 1 is
rounded as at 8 for a purpose which will be pres
