A still further object of this invention is to

Received within the cup 22' is a member 25
likewise made of thin sheet material and having
a cylindrical portion 26 telescoping within the
portion 22 of the member 20, and a forwardly

Other objects of this invention will in part
be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.
20
The invention accordingly consists in the fea
tures of construction, combinations of elements,
and arrangement of parts which will be exem
pli?ed in the construction hereinafter described,
25 and of which the scope of application will be in
dicated in the following claims.
In the accompanying drawing, in which is

formed with a pair 'of diametrically disposed
bearing openings 38 for the purpose hereinafter
shown one of the various possible illustrative

Referring now in detail to the drawing, l0 des
ignates doll structure embodying the invention,
comprising a molded doll’s head I I provided with
a pair of eye sockets or openings 12. Extending
rearwardly from the front of the doll’s head and
between the sockets I2 is a projection l3 formed
with a horizontal slot l4. Received within the

so
explained.
Received within the member I8 is an eye ball
32 made ofglass or any other suitable material
and having painted on the front surface 32a
thereof an iris 33. The eye ball 32 is circular
26
and of kidney bean, axial, cross-sectional shape,
of wire 34 having a central looped portion 35
embedded within said eye ball and having out
wardly extending, aligned arms 36. jour'naled
within the openings 30 of said cylindrical, por
tion 26. Preferably the arms 36 pass through
the center of curvature of the surface 32a and 35
form an axis of rotation for said member.
As shown in Fig. 5 the arms 36 are vertically
disposed so that upon tilting the head sideways, .
the eye member 32 will pivot to one side. Ob
viously the eye members 32 move simultaneously 40
from side to side depending upon the direction
the doll is tilted.
'
As shown in Fig. 10, the arms 36 may be dis
posed horizontally whereby the eye members 32n
will swing up and down instead of sideways.
45
It will thus be seen that there is provided a
device in which the several objects of this in
vention are achieved, and which is well adapted
to meet the conditions of practical use.
50
As various possible embodiments might be
made of the above invention, and as various
changes might be made in the embodiment above
set forth, it is to be understood that all matter
herein set forth or shown in the accompanying 55

drawing, is to be interpreted as illustrative and
not in a limiting sense.
ing within said cup and ?xed thereto and having
wall, the eye openings in said front walls regis
tering with said eye sockets, and an eyeball piv

axes of each of said eye ball mountings being
parallel.
5. In doll construction, a doll’s head having a"
pair‘ of eye sockets and a projection extending

jection having a horizontal slot at the rear end 10
thereof, a horizontal bar having the mid portion
thereof received within said slot, and an eye unit
mounted on each end of said bar, each eye unit.
Having thus described my invention, I claim
as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. In. doll construction, a bar, a cup having
a rear wall ?xed to said bar, a member telescop
10 with said eye openings disposed between said cup
and member and pivoted to said member on an
axis passing through the center of curvature of
said part-spherical surface.
