SNOW REMOVER
Caleb n. Rogers, Ellicott City, Md.
Application July 3, 1936, Serial No. 88,879
3 Claims.
My invention relates to new and useful im~
(o1. 37_53)
is of V-shape and includesthe wings or blades
provements in snow removers or plows and more
I and 2 connected at their forward ends and
particularly to a device of this character adapt~
angularly related to provide the v-shape ‘previ
ed to be hand propelled and primarily intended
for what might be termed home use for remov~
ing snow from sidewalks, roadways or the like
although it will be understood that it might
equally as well be used for removing snow from
any point where a shovel or similar instrument
10 is customarily used.
The principal object of the invention resides
in the provision of a snow plow or remover of the
character described which will be simple and inexpensive in construction, light in weight, and

ously described. Each of the blades if formed
along its upper edge with an inwardly directed
?ange 3 and on its bottom edge with an in
wardly directed ?ange 4 which is then. bent or
turned outwardly to provide an outwardly di
rected ?ange 5 which operates as a cutter in the
movement of the plow or remover. The .blade or
wing I is formed on its forward end with an
extension (5, the end of which is turned inwardly
to provide a hook or parallel portion 1, as shown
more clearly in Fig. 3 of the drawing. At its
forward end the blade or wing 2 is provided with ‘ i
A further object of the invention resides in the
provision of a snow plow or remover of the char-
the extension 8 which is adapted to extend par
allel with the extension 6 of the blade or wing I
acter described which is collapsible and which
and this extension ?ts into the hook portionv ‘I
may be knocked down or collapsed for storage
purposes or when shipping.
Another object of the invention consists in the
provision of a snow plow or remover of the character described which is adjustable and adapted
for cleaning a path through the snow of varying
as shown and the forward ends of the two blades
or wings are detachably connected together by
means of the bolts 9 and nuts Ill, the bolts pass
ing through the eXtenSiehS 5 and 8 and the hook
portion 7. I As shown more particularly in Figs
2 and 7 0f the drawing, the upper edges of the
p... widths,
With the above and other objects in view,
which will appear as the description proceeds,
my invention consists in the novel details of construction and arrangement of parts, described in
the following speci?cation and illustrated in the
accompanying drawing, and while I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiment
of the invention, as they now appear to me, it
will be understood that such changes may be
35 made as will fall within the scope of the appended
claims,
In the drawing:—Fig. 1 is a top plan.
Fig, 2 is a side elevation,

Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2
looking in the direction Qfthe arrows,
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section on the line
4—4 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a longitudinal section on the line 5_5
45 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 6 is a transverse section through one of
the wings or blades and a section of the connecting cross brace on the line 6—-6 of Fig. 1; and
blades or wings I and 2 are downwardly inclined -
from the rear ends towards the front ends tofgive ”
a somewhat heater appearance and by doing this
the Wings or blades will be ‘of increasing height
from the front ends towards the‘rear ends. As
e130 Shown quite clearly in Figs- 2 and 7 0f the U
drawing at the immediate forward .ends the
upper edges of the Wings 01‘ blades I and 2- are
beveled downwardly as ShOWfl at H while the
bottom edges are inclined or beveled upwardly
as Shown at 12- ThiS permits the remover or
plow to more readily cut through the snow and
the inclined or beveled portion I2 permits the de
vice to ride over any obstructions or unevenness in
the ground. As shown more particularly in Fig. 1
of the drawing the end of the flange 3 on the Wine
or blade I overlies the flange 3 formed on the
Other Wing 01' blade 2
The wings or blades I and 2 are connected in
termediate their ends by means of a cross brace
which includes the vertically extending plate
I3 Provided With the upper ?ange l4 and the
IOWeI' ?ange 15- The ends of the plate '3 are
bent at an angle, as shown at I6, and these angu- V
Fig. 7 is an enlarged fragmental detail of the
50 front or pointed end of the plow or remover.
In carrying out my invention the entire remover or plow is formed of metal with the exception of the handle which may be of Wood or metal
as found most expedient. As shown more par-
lar extensions extend parallel with the‘ inner
faces of the wings or blades I and 2 and the

brace is secured to said wings or blades by means
of the bolts I‘! and nuts I8. The manner of con
necting the brace to the wings or blades I and 2 .
is quite clearly shown in Figs. 3 and 6 of the
2,119,443
For propelling the remover or plow I provide
a detachable vhandle which, as previously stated,
may be of wood‘or metal. I have shown this
handle as being formed in the sections [9 and
20, connected by the metal sleeve 2|. This sleeve
2| is permanently secured to the section l9 by
means of the downwardly bent prongs 22 and
may be detachably connected to the section 20
by means of the bolt 23 and nut 24. As shown
10' more particularly in Fig. 5 of‘ the drawing the
adjacent ends of the handle sections are pref
erably beveled to facilitate assembling. The
section 2|], of the handle; passes through'an
the blade or wing 2, to be withdrawn from the
hook portion 1 of the blade or Wing |. The sec
tions I 9 and 20 of the handle may be discon
nected by removing the bolt 23 which permits
the section 20 to be withdrawn from the sleeve
2|. The device is of simple construction, light
in weight, and may be easily propelled through
the snow for cleaning purposes.
.
Having fully described my invention what I
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters 10
Patent
is:—

In order that the angle of the wings or blades tween the parallel portions, means extending

I and 2 may be adjusted I provide each with lon
gltudinally spaced openings 29 through which
the bolts H, which connect the brace to the wings

in which it is shown it will have a tendency to
