certain predetermined position in order to permit

inner face. Engaging the hub member 5, and con
sequently the latch operating boss I8, is a latch
actuator or key 30 correspondingly shaped to 45

I8, the actuator preferably being manipulated by
a thumb nut 41 detachably mounted thereon.
Loosely ?tted over the latch actuator 30 is a sleeve
3I having slots extending from one end at oppo- 50
site Doints.
The lower end of the sleeve 3| terminates in
a flange 32 having two opposite downwardly pro
jecting extensions 33 to engage the recesses 34
of the rim 28 of the uppermost disc 22. A metal 55
plate 36 is ?xed over the customary door key
opening carrying a dial plate 31 provided with a
peripheral arcuate slot 38 for properly setting the
dial plate 31 by a bolt 39.
The dial plate has a hub-like member 40 ?tted
over the sleeve 3| and con?ned in its operation
between the ?ange 32 and an inner ring-like
enlargement by a compression spring 35.
A sleeve 4! having its upper reduced end pro
vVided with slight inward projections is disposed
over hub member 40. A pointer 132 having its
ring-like body slipped over hub member 40, is
held by sleeve 4! in set position, due to the
pointer being provided with diametrically oppo
15 site, inwardly directed extensions 133 engaging in
correspondingly arranged slots in the lower end
of the sleeve 4!.
A disc 45 engages over the slightly protruding
end of sleeve 3i by engaging the slots of the
sleeve 3|.
Figures 14 to 17 inclusive, show a modi?ed two~
bolt combination lock in which the reference
numeral 55 designates the casing and 5l‘the
latch bolt. Fixed on the end of, the bolt 5! is
a block 52; the bolt slides back and forth through
the lock opening 53 upon the main plate 54 of
the casing and beneath the lowermost combina
tion disc 55, it being operated by an actuator 55
from either side of the lock.
Superimposed on the lowermost disc 55 are a
number of discs 5?, 58, 59, 55, GI, 62 each pro
vided with a radial notch 63 extending from the
periphery toward the center and adapted to ?t
sures 1-13 it is therefore deemed not necessary
to describe it in detail here.
-In the lower end of the casing 50, is a sliding
latch bolt ‘H having a bevelled head to contact
the escutcheon plate on the door frame. It is
operated by the actuator 55 in the ordinaryhub
‘i2 controlled by a pivoted lever ‘l3 engaging the
hub, which in turn actuates the inner pivoted
end of the bevelled latch bolt ‘H.
Having thus described the invention, what is
claimed as new and desired to secure by Letters
Patent, is:--,
1. A look comprising a casing, a bolt slidable
therein, a series of superimposed tumbler discs,
the lowermost disc attached to the casing, said
bolt operating below the lowermost disc, an arm
ate enlargement of the lower face of said disc, a
cam member controlling said bolt, an actuator
for said cam member, and a dial settable by
said actuator.
2. A lock comprising a casing, a bolt slidable
therein, a. series of superimposed tumbler discs,
the lowermost disc attached to the casing, means
on said disc for guiding said bolt, a cam member
loosely seated in an opening of the bolt, a pro 25
jecting hub member on said disc loosely ?tting
over said- cam member, an actuator ?tting into
said cam member, and a dial settable by said
