SALT AND PEPPER. SHAKER. AND THE LIKE
Peter F. Sandstrom, Chicago, 111., assignor, by
mesne assignments, of one-half to Albert R.
Johnson, Maywood, Ill.
.
Application April 25, 1936, Serial No."i6,353
2 Claims. (Cl. 65-7-45)
This invention relates to salt and pepper shakers
in Fig. 6 it will be apparent that the condiment
and the like and~more particularly to a com- , in chamber 20, which is the lower one, will readily
bination article for two or more condiments.
An object is to provide a simple, practical, and
5 inexpensive device of the character described.
Another object is to provide an improved com
Eiknation shaker for salt and pepper and the
e.
Another object is to provide a combined salt
10 and pepper shaker in which either the salt or
pepper or both may be dispensed at one time.
Other objects and advantages will be appar
ent and brought out more fully in the following
speci?cation, reference being had to the accom
15 Denying drawing, in‘ which:
-
Fig. 1 is a side view of a salt and pepper shaker
embodying my invention;
Figs. 2 and 3 are respectively top and bottom
views of the same;
20 Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional elevation of the
same, taken'on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 5 is a further enlarged plan section, taken
on the line 5-5 of Fig. 1'; and
~
'
Fig. 6 is a view partially broken away, showing
25 the device inloperation.
-
Referring more ‘particularly to the drawing,
1 show’ a shaker device comprising‘ a container
Iii having a body portion II, a shaker head if,
an internal shoulder lfarand a base member
80 II. The head portion has a ?at pitched sur
face It and a second ?at pitched surface IS,
the surface It having an upper edge It, and
the surface I! having an upper edge ii. A
V-shaped member I! Joins the edges i8 and I1
85 with apartition wall I! which divides the con
tainer l0 into two chambers 20 and ‘ii. The
member I8 is so arranged that pockets 22‘ and
.?ow out through apertures 21, or if necessary ,_
a slight shaking may be required. In this posi- .\
tion the condiment 'in the chamber 2| will be 5
maintained therein, some of the same being held
in pocket i1, and none of the same will be dis
pensed from the apertures 28 since these aper
tures are at the upper side of the chamber. A
like result will of course occur when the device 10
is reversed, the condiment in chamber 2| being
dispensed and that inchamber 20 being retained.
. If, however‘, it is desired to dispense both of
the condiments simultaneously, the device may
be inclined or shaken with the partition wall 15
I! in a vertical plane, whereupon some of- the
apertures ll and 28 will ‘permit the contained
condiments to be dispensed.
While I have illustrated and described the pre
ferred form of construction for carrying my in- 20
vention into effect, this is capable of variation
and modification without departing from the
spirit of the invention. 1, therefore, do not wish
to be limited to the precise details of construction
set forth, but desire to avail myself of such varia- 25
tions and modi?cations as come within the scope
of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what‘ I
claim as.new and desire to secure by Letters
Patent is:

1. A container comprising a body portion, a
base member, a dispensing head having a plu
rality of apertured dispensing walls, said walls
having a meeting edge, and a partition wall ex
tending from said meeting edge to said base. 35
said dispensing walls converging towards said -
partition wall and having angularly disposed
23 are formed between surfaces It and I5 and ' portions forming pockets therewith, said angu
wall It. Apertures It and 25 are formed in base larly disposed portionstforming angles with said
40 member I! by which the chambers may be dispensing walls and said partition wall respec- 4o
?lled with the condiments as desired, plugs 28
2.yA container comprising a body portion,.a
being provided to close said apertures. A plu
rality of apertures 2'! are provided in surface It base member, a dispensing head having a plu
and a plurality of apertures 20 are provided in v rality of apertured dispensing walls, said walls
having substantially reversed bent portions‘ con- 45
45 surface ll.
It will be understood that the chambers 20 and verging to a meeting edge and forming pockets,
ii will be filled with such different condiments and a partition wall extending from said base
to said meeting edge.
as salt and pepper or otherwise, as desired.
