Vibrating screen members which are exclusive
ly elastically mounted have of late been com
monly used in the cellulose industry for sorting,
dehydrating or washing of suspensions of ?brous
material, and have proved-to be of great practical
value.

to the drum may be such that thedrum does not
only obtain a vibratory motion but is also caused
to rotate, the vibratory motion cooperating with
the actual friction and liquid resistances.
From the suspension charged into the con
tainer I liquid, possibly with some of the sus
pended material, passes through the screen shell
It has now appeared to be very advantageous
to use according to the present invention an ap
paratus in. which in a stationary container a ro

throughthe outlet l2 and further through the
tatably mounted screening drum is suspended in 10 conveyingjtrough l3, whereas ?brous suspension
not passing through the screen surface leaves
through the shutter 5 through the outlet 6.
In order to clean the screen shell of the drum

to be vibrated by rotation of two shafts actuat

to transmit such motion to the drum.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated 15, duit 15 for supplying washing liquid, extends

A screening drum 2 is rotatably mounted in a 20 it is discharged through a conduit IT.
The described device may be modi?ed in several
respects. The drum need not be cylindric but

The invention may also be carried out in such
a way that the suspension is charged into a

rotating screening drum at its one end, whereby

provided with an eccentric weight or weights, and
is driven via an elastic coupling by an electric

to operate in time and preferably they may be
driven by electric synchronized motors. A vi
