This invention relates to door latches and in
particular to locking means for the latch bolt.
One object of the invention is to provide a lock

ing means for a knob-and-spindle-actuated latch
which is simple in construction, easily assembled,
and easily applied to a door, and is reliable and `
convenient in use.
Another object is to provide improved means
for locking latches operable from one side only
of a door.
Still another object is to provide a locking de- '
vice for latches operable generally from one side
of the door with provision for emergency releas
ing of the locking means from the opposite side
of the door.

These and other objects are attained by my in
vention which is hereinafter described, reference
