1 This invention relates generally to winding ap
paratus or hoists and, more particularly, aims
to provide novel snubbing or braking ‘means for a
spective brake drums 2| and encircle, or par
tially encircle, such brake drums. The friction
device or snubber 22, in this instance, comprises
winding drum to prevent backlash and tangling
ofthe cable being wound thereon.‘
