1 (liaim. (Cl. 43—56)
The present invention relates generally to minnow
pails or buckets and has for its primary object to provide,
in a manner as hereinafter set forth, novel means for
facilitating the selection and removal of the bait from
such receptacles Without wetting the hmd or sleeve.
Another very important object of the invention is to
provide a bait lifting or elevating device of the character
described which may be expeditiously mounted for use
on a conventional minnow pail without structurally alter
ing said pail in any Way.

13. The arcuate arms 13 terminate in straight free end
portions 14 which are insertable through a selected pair
of the usual perforations 15 in the cover 9 and which, if
desired, may then be angularly bent for anchoring said
arms in said perforations.
It is thought that the use of the device will be readily
10 apparent from a consideration of the foregoing. Brie?y,
the cover 9 is opened and the free end portions 14 of the
arms 13 are inserted through a pair of the perforations 15
at a point adjacent the hinge 16 of said cover. When so
doing the arms 13 may be forced toward each other or
separated for tensioning the split ring 1%).
With the cover
9 in closed position, as shown in FIGURE 2 of the draw
ing, the net 11 is substantially submerged in the water 6
Other objects of the invention are to provide a minnow
in the back or rear portion of the minnow pail. When
pail attachment of the aforementioned character which
is desired to select and remove a minnow the cover 9
will be comparatively simple in construction, strong, dur
able, compact, of light weight and which may be manu 20 is swung upwardly to open position thereby elevating the

of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter
The foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the
described and claimed, reference being had to the ac
of the invention. Further, since numerous
companying drawing forming a part hereof, wherein like
modi?cations and changes will readily occur to those
numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

invention as claimed.
What is claimed as new is as follows:
A bait lifting attachment for minnow pails of the type

on the top and having perforations therein, said attach
Referring now to the drawing in detail, it will be seen
ment comprising: a split, resilient metallic ring operable
that reference character 4 designates the usual perforated
through the opening and in the pail, a circular net mounted
inner section or member of a conventional minnow pail
or bucket which is designated generally by reference char 40 on said ring, and arcuate mounting arms integral with
the ends of the ring, said arms including bendable free
acter 5. The pail 5 is to be ?lled to the desired level with
water, as indicated at 6.
The inner section or member
4 of the minnow pail 5 comprises a top '7 having a circular
access opening 8 therein for which a vertically swingable, 45
perforated cover or lid 9 is provided.
The embodiment of the present invention which has
been illustrated comprises a resilient, circular frame or
split ring 10 of suitable metal, preferably aluminum.
Mounted in the split ring 10 is a slightly sagging net 11 50
of suitable flexible material. In the embodiment shown,
end portions engageable selectively in the perforations for
?xedly hanging the attachment on the lower side of the
cover for swinging movement therewith.
