The present invention relates to improvements in
abrasive instruments, and more particularly to cutting
sharpening implement generally including a base desig

devices, sharpeners and in particular for scissors sharp
eners.

One object of the invention is to provide a sharpening
implement for various cutters such as scissors, knives and
the like which is provided with a removable abrasive ele
ment to facilitate removal and replacement when the
abrasive element has become worn.
Another object is to provide a sharpening implement for
scissors and the like in which a reciprocating guide ele
ment is supported by the stationary abrasive surface to
hold the cutting implement in a correct position when the
same is presented to the abrasive surface and recipro
cated thereover.
Another object is to provide a sharpening implement
abrasive strip.
In the drawing, and more in detail, there is shown a

What I claim is:
1. In a sharpening device, a base having a downwardly
extending rolled edge at one end thereof and a transverse
slot at the other end, said rolled edge forming a tubular
portion having a longitudinal slot, a ?exible abrasive strip
extending over said base with one end received in the slot

edge and the other end extending downwardly through
said transverse slot, a latch member on the underside of
strip being passed through a transverse slot in said base
