The present invention provides for a plurality of lasts
which are arranged in a spaced-apart position at the
circumference of a last holder, such as a rotatable or
adjustable drum, disc, rotary table or movable endless
conveyor belt or the like.

means of which the lasts are ?xed in position on the
holder for movement therewith.

means and locking mean-s so that the pairs of lasts can be

According to a further feature of the invention, the
pairs of lasts or the adjustable holders are maintained
at the same height below the pad. In contrast to this, the
pressing member or compression pad is moved to perform
the pressing’cycle. The movement of the compression
pad is preferably performed by means of a hydraulic
piston which forms part of a hydraulic piston-cylinder
assembly. The pad itself is advantageously designed as
a laminate consisting of alternating layers of foamed
rubber or the like, leather or the like. The pad should
be of sufficient height and elasticity to ensure that suf
?cient and uniform pressure is vapplied, particularly when
different pairs of lasts or lasts of different shapes are
pressedv against the pad.
