Developing or describing existing packages
Participants are divided into 3 groups.
Each group selects a package after a short discussion
Each group describes their selected packages on the flip chart. (Who,
when, what, where, how?)
Activities, location, number of days, accommodations, food, transportation,
clients, size group, seasons.
Generating your own criteria
Each group lists the criteria of a good market ready aboriginal tourism
package
The criteria are regrouped and scaled down to 5
The selected package is evaluated using the 5 criteria
Each of the criteria are one spoke of the wheel
Each criteria are scored from 1 to 5
Improving and fleshing out your package
The Roman Carousel is a technique used to improve a project.
2 rounds of presentation of proposed packages (5) for feedback are used.
2 persons from each group are circulating.
One is presenting the package and one is reporting during 20 minutes per
table. The x groups are being visited by the same team.
Packages are being revised based on the comments, feed back and
suggestions from other groups. You can steal ideas from other groups also.
Figure out the key questions. Use the check list developed previously for
assessing the packages.
Reporters go back to initial tables, report to their group and revise and refine
the packages in light of the feed back. Do not go into details
What are the things missing? How can you collaborate with other groups?
Develop a community vision.
Each reporter is presenting the improved package based on feed back from
other groups in the plenary session.
