Conference Information
How to apply
Theme
This conference focuses on the theme of public
theology as a project of the churches and academy
in the twenty-first century.
1. Register for Conference
In an age of uncertainty, increasing violence and the
divide between rich and poor, we are more aware
than ever of our connectedness to one another in
the global village and our shared responsibilities
to care for the earth and our neighbours. In this
context, both the recovery of the voice of the
Christian community and the need for patient
listening to other voices are urgent.
Speakers and papers
The keynote speakers (see overleaf ) will offer
critical insights on the task of public theology in
the UK, USA and South Africa.
We invite scholars from Australia to offer to the
conference the fruits of their own work in public
theology and related themes. If you would like
to contribute a paper at the conference please
indicate on this form.
Publication
It is planned to publish a book based on the
conference proceedings. Not everything presented
will necessarily appear in the final volume though
it is the hope of the committee that a significant
contribution to the ongoing work of public
theology will be an important outcome of this
conference.
Organisation
The conference is organised on behalf of the
Australian and New Zealand Association of
Theological Schools (ANZATS) and the Australian
and New Zealand Society for Theological Studies
(ANZSTS). The conference convenor is The Rev.
Professor James Haire, Director of PACT.
