L'UTILISATION DE CET AFFICHAGE NUMERIQUE EST PRINCIPALEMENT DESTINE
AUX HORLOGES NUMERIQUES DE GRANDES DIMENSIONS.
The LED display includes a double band of individual diodes formed in
a figure of eight outline. The outline has more curved corners than
the conventional right angle corners of other displays. This serves to
make the character displayed more easily readable. Individual diodes
(1-6) at the corners of the display are controlled from the data lines
via a system of OR-gates. If for example the top line and upper right
line are used for a character, then an OR-gate linking the two
relevant data lines will be active, and thus operate the individual
diode (1) in the top right hand corner. Five other logic gates are
arranged to control the operation of diodes at the other corners of
the display.

La presente invention concerne un affichage numerique compose par des
diodes electroluminescentes pouvant etre utilise notamment quoique non
exclusivement pour l'affichage de l'heure dans des horloges de grandes
dimensions.
On utilise actuellement des affichages a diodes electroluminescentes,
les chiffres sont formes par sept segments. Les sept segments eclaires
forment un huit, on compose les chiffres de zero a neuf en eclairant
et en eteignant certains segments. Chaque segment se compose
generalement d'une rangee de diodes ce qui ne permet pas une bonne
lisibilite a une distance superieure a trente metres.
Dans le cas ou le segment se compose de deux rangees de diodes afin
d'avoir une meilleure lisibilite, ce segment va avoir une structure
rectangulaire ce qui complique les problemes d'emboitage et de
juxtaposition des segments dans le but d'obtenir un affichage
numerique.
La presente invention s'inspire de cette technique pour realiser un
produit nouveau destine notamnent a la realisation d'horloge numerique
de grandes dimensions.
La particularite de cet affichage permet de composer des chiffres de
grandes dimensions par deux rangees de diodes par segment pour avoir
une lisibilite a une distance superieure a trente metres.
Pour faciliter la lecture et reduire le nombre de diodes, nous
disposons une diode a chaque extremite des segments, au total six
diodes pour un affichage numerique et chacune de ces diodes sera
commune a deux ou trois segments. Elles permettent d'avoir des
extremites de segments toujours a la meme hauteur et a la meme
distance l'une par rapport aux autres.
Pour arriver a ce resultat, un systeme electronique de decodage
supplementaire a te realise.
L'invention sera mieux comprise a la lecture de la description qui va
suivre et en se referant aux dessins annexes.

A titre d'exemple, la figure i represente un affichage numerique sept
segments, les diodes allumees forment le chiffre 2.
La figure 1 montre l'affichage numerique avec sa double rangee de
diodes par segments et les diodes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 disposees aux
extrtiites et chacune de ces diodes dites d'extremite est commune a
chaque ensemble de segments adjacents.
Ainsi: la diode 1 est commune aux segments A et B
Ia diode 2 est commune aux segments B, C et G la diode 3 est commune
aux segments C et D la diode 4 est commune aux segments D et E la
diode 5 est commune aux segments E, F et 6 la diode 6 est commune aux
segments A et. F
La distance entre le centre de la diode I et le centre de la diode 2
est la mime que celle entre le centre de la diode 2 et celui de la
diode 3, et cela pour chaque segment. Ce qui permet un emboitage des
segments plus facile en rendant commune ces diodes dites d'extremite a
deux ou trois segments.
Comme le montre la figure 1, nous realisons un decodage electronique
special supplementaire pour les diodes electroluminescentes 1, 2, 3,
4, 5, 6 tout en conservant le decodage classique sept segments pour
les segments A, B, C, D, E, F, G
Par exemple, la diode i doit s'eclairer lorsque le segment
A est eclaire ou lorsque le segment B est eclaire.
Le decodage de la diode 1 sera donc realise a partir d'une porte
logique "ou" entre A et B.
Le meme principe sera applique aux cinq autres diodes qui permettent
de realiser l'ensemble du decodage des six diodes d'extremite
represente figure 2.
La presente invention s'applique plus particulierement mais non
exclusivement aux horloges a affichage numerique.

REVENDICATIONS
1 - Dispositif de decodage permettant de composer un affichage
numerique sept segments pour une lisibilite superieure a trente
metres,caracterise en ce que les segments sont formes par une double
rangee de diodes electroluminescentes et de six diodes dites
d'extremite communes a deux ou trois segments.
2 - Dispositif selon la revendication 1 caracterise par la longueur et
le nombre de diodes electroluminescentes sur chaque double rangee de
diodes d'un segment sont identiques pour les sept segments.

using the pull down menu here.
You can select "Full Text" to view the entire document.
5. For non-latin languages, (in most cases) full text translations
are available, you can toggle them on and off here.
You can also toggle the inline discovery translations between
English and their original language.
6. The pie chart icon will open a basic statistical breakdown of the
publication.
7. The sort icon allows you to sort the listed categories based on
the number of instances found.
Click to toggle between ascending and descending.
8. You can use the refine box to refine the discovered items in the
sections below.
Simply type what you are looking for, any items that do not match
will be temporarily hidden.

The specific items found are listed within the category headings.
Click the section header to open that section and view all the

The best thing to do is to experiment by opening the sections and

10. The main output window contains the publication full text (or part
thereof if selected).
11. The Tools section contains tools to help you navigate the
"discovered" (highlighted) items of interest.
The arrows and counter let you move through the highlighted items
in order.
12. Other tools include a "Preview" option [ [preview.png] ] and the
ability to mark the relative locations of highlighted items by
using the "Marker" option [ [marker.png] ].
Try these out to best understand how they work, and to discover if
they are of use to you.
13. Items selected from the menu on the left will be highlighted in
the main publication section (here in the middle of the screen).
Click them for further information and insights (including
chemical structure diagrams where available).
14. Please experiment with TextMine - you cannot make any permanent
changes or break anything and once your session is closed (you've
log out) all your activity is destroyed.
