SHAPE UP
WITH JESS!
This week, former
Celebrity Big Brother

Jess Cunningham
joins us for a fun,
fitness-focused
column as she
embarks on her
new year shape-up
plan. Follow the
mum-of-four?s

WE?RE OBSESSED
WITH THESE 90s
FLASHBACKS!
It might be the start of a new year, but
here at new! we feel like
we?ve stepped into some
sort of televisual time
machine thanks
to a flurry of our
favourite 90s TV
stars popping up
on our radar.
The pair

Friends
Mark-Paul Gosselaar ?
aka the legendary Zack Morris
from Saved By The Bell ? hinted he?s
up for a reunion with his co-stars to
celebrate the teen sitcom?s 30th birthday
this year. Just imagine seeing Zack
reunited with his geeky pal Screech and
his infamous brick of a mobile phone.
We?d also welcome the prospect of
seeing hunky Mario Lopez (now BFFs
with our very own Mark Wright) back
in his dodgy neon vest tops as AC Slater.
Uh-ma-zing!
But while we can only dream of seeing
the Bayside High cast back together, we

reunited for real just
before Christmas!
The pair, who played lovers
Monica Geller and Dr Richard
Burke in the iconic sitcom, were
filmed hugging when they ran into
each other at a bar in New York.
Seeing the actors together again
sent the internet into a nostalgia-fuelled
meltdown, with fans wondering what
Monica?s hubby, Chandler Bing, would
have thought of her running into her ex.
We doubt he could be any more
annoyed!

How much weight did you lose?
I don?t weigh myself, so I have
no idea. It?s not about weight
loss for me ? it?s about health,
?tness and getting a bit of time
to rest and re?ect. I don?t like to
put too much emphasis on my
weight. If I get papped looking
bad, or it?s a dodgy angle and
someone knows that I weigh
9絪t or 10st or whatever, and
then a young girl thinks, ?Oh
God, that must mean she?s fat?,
I think it?s a really negative
mindset to put young girls in.
Did you feel more con?dent
coming out of the retreat?
De?nitely. I?m a ?rm believer in
healthy body, healthy mind. If
you are giving your body the
nutrients it needs, and if you
are training, exercising, doing
meditation, doing yoga, ?nding
things that work in harmony
with you, then you can?t help
but feel more con?dent.
Was it nice to have your
mum with you?
Yeah. In the same year that
I turned 30, my mam turned 60,
so we had this desire to
get really ?t, healthy and
strong. My mam?s tiny.
She treks, hikes and
rides bikes. She is really
physically ?t. It was lovely
to have a break away
with her. It spurred me
on to be very active.
Are you happy with how
you look now?
I don?t think I?ll ever be
entirely happy. But what
I?m striving for at the moment
is contentment. For me,
health and ?tness is more
of a constant. It?s something to
make me feel good, to give me
balance, to make me feel strong
and that I can deal, mentally
and physically, with everything
that life throws at me. I?m happy
at the moment, but there?s
always room for improvement.
Have you done many fad diets
in the past?
Mate, you name it, I?ve done
it! It?s embarrassing for me to
admit that, because I?m such an
advocate for health and ?tness.
I think fad diets are a rite of
passage ? all girls do them, don?t
they? You do the no carbs, the
cabbage soup, the 5:2. You do all
of these things and, truth be told,
the only thing that actually works
is balance, moderation and
looking after yourself. You have
to train hard, eat right and allow
yourself little treats and a bit of
normality because otherwise
you?ll go crackers. I like to eat
right 80 per cent of the time.
And then 20 per cent of the time,
I like to drink prosecco and eat

Ferne McCann opens up to
about life as a single mum and
why she?s proud of her ?gure
t?s hard to believe Ferne
McCann had baby Sunday
just 14 months ago. She looks
in fantastic shape when
we meet her in central London
and doesn?t seem to be put
off by the cold weather as
she shows off her washboard
abs in a tiny crop top.
We?re here to talk to the
28-year-old about her new
exercise DVD, Fit As Ferne,
which she credits for her
enviable size 8 ?gure after
slimming down from a size 12.
On the DVD she shares her
?tness regime and techniques
to tone, tighten and de?ne,
with the help of her personal
trainer Ellie Hopley.
Well, if it gives us a body like
Ferne?s, sign us up!
I
Hi Ferne! Why did you want to
release a ?tness DVD?
It?s de?nitely a pinch-me moment!
A good few years ago I was
never the go-to girl for ?tness,
but I?ve always been into the gym.
She was back
training six
weeks after
giving birth
18
Every new year I?ve always
wanted to be in really good
shape, feel ?t, lean and have
abs. And now I actually am!
What should we expect?
The DVD is broken down
into sections ? like arms
and glutes ? and you can
cherry-pick your workout, so
if you?ve only got 10 minutes,
you can do that.
A lot of celebrity ?tness DVDs
have been criticised for being
a sham. Did that worry you?
I wasn?t nervous. I obviously
know there?s been a ?tness
DVD curse, but I can?t comment
on that. All I know is that it?s
worked for me and it isn?t
something that I?ve done to
lose weight. It?s just part of life
and I get so many people asking
me what I?ve been doing.
When did you begin your
?tness journey?
At the end of 2016. I wasn?t that
into the gym ? it was a bit of a
chore and every time I went I felt
sick. That?s when I met Ellie and
we just clicked. It was never a
case of wanting to lose loads of
weight ? I just wanted to see if
I could set myself a challenge
and actually stick to something.
When I fell pregnant with Sunday,
I didn?t want to stop.
Was it dif?cult to train while you
were pregnant?
No, because it was important
for me to keep active. I actually
believe that?s what helped me
with my labour. Six weeks after
having Sunday I checked it was
all good to go again and then
I slowly introduced training
back into my life.
What keeps you motivated?
Ellie ? she knows what she?s
doing and what works for me.
I tried so many different PTs
and I?ve walked out of so many
spinning classes, but I ?nd
the DVD sustainable and I?ve
managed to maintain a really
healthy shape.
Ferne has
worked hard
to achieve
her fab ?gure
How often do you work out?
Two to three times a week.
Anything more is a bonus.
What?s your diet like?
I eat relatively well, but I?m
realistic. I?m de?nitely balanced
because I do like good food and
having a cheeky takeaway over
the weekend. I drink loads
of water and love fresh ?sh
and vegetables.
Are you body con?dent?
I do feel really body con?dent ?
it?s dif?cult not to when you?ve
worked hard at something.
I love showing it off. Of course,
there?s always going to be
something I wish I could change,
like my boobs. They have
de?nitely got bigger from
breastfeeding ? they?ve
changed so much.
Would you ever have surgery?
I have considered it, but right
now I?m happy the way I am.
What was your biggest
achievement of 2018?
It was such a fab year. It was
my ?rst of?cial year of being a
mum and Sunday?s my biggest
highlight. Just spending every
day with her, watching her
grow ? there?s so much that
she?s taught me.
What have been your biggest
challenges?
All the usual challenges any new
parent faces ? the other night
Sunday was teething. It?s such
a guessing game when you?re
a new mum and, because I?m a
single parent, I?ve got no one to
turn to. In the end, you can cry.
Sunday is
Ferne?s ?best
friend?
You?re like, ?What is wrong with
you?? You have to go through it,
that?s just a part of life.
What are your goals for 2019?
Keep working hard and doing
the best for Sunday. Oh, and
spend less time on my phone!
Are you open to ?nding a man
this year?
De?nitely. I don?t know when
I?d ?nd the time, but maybe
I should make that my New
Year?s resolution.
Would you be wary of
bringing a new man into
Sunday?s life?
It?s de?nitely something that I?d
be more picky about.
Are you nervous about having
a relationship in the public
eye again?
I wouldn?t say I?m nervous, but
I would love to keep something
private just for me.
How is Sunday?
She?s just such a happy soul.
She?s such an angel.
Which milestones has
she reached?
She?s crawling now and she?s
sur?ng around the furniture. She?s
saying lots of different words and
making sounds. I?m talking to her
all the time and it amazes me how
much she picks up.
How has Sunday changed you?
She?s taught me how to be patient
and how to love unconditionally.
I look back and laugh at how
much of a party girl I was. I had
no responsibilities. I still lived at
home with my mum, so I?ve had
a lot of growing up to do.
How do you ?nd being
a single mum?
Whatever situation you?re in,
you?re still a mum and that
doesn?t change. It?s like that
unbreakable bond, whether
you?re in a relationship or not.
Sunday?s ?tted into my life
absolutely perfectly and
I?ve ?tted into hers. We?re
each other?s best friend.

Salary expectation is a difficult
conversation to have. You need
to make sure you work really
hard, assert yourself and show
an interest in the business. Even
if you don?t get what you want
at first, be open to different ways
of being rewarded.
Ensure you?ve done your research
ahead of an interview. It can be really
exhausting when the interviewee
knows nothing about the business.
Research the company, what it does
and who its clients are. You can then
show how you will be of value, which
will work in your favour.
Being turned away is always tough,
but you have to take it as it comes
and learn from it. It doesn?t mean
you?re a failure in any way, it just
means you need to go again and
find a new approach. It?s so easy

asey Batchelor has
always been open about
not rushing to snap
back into shape since
giving birth to her daughter
Florence in May. But when her
GP told her that her weight was
a risk to her health, Casey took
matters into her own hands
and embarked on a new ?tness
and healthy eating regime.
Over the past six months, the
former Celebrity Big Brother star
has lost a staggering four stone,
dropping from a dress size 18 to
an 8 through regular at-home
yoga sessions (she?s a quali?ed
instructor) and ditching doughnuts.
So it?s no surprise Casey is all
smiles when she arrives at our
new year ?tness shoot. ?I feel
great. I?m in a really good place,?
the 34-year-old beams.
The cheery former model has
launched a new app called Yoga
C
Blitz ? which mixes yoga
with high-intensity exercises
? and couldn?t wait to show us
some of her moves, including the
impressive one-legged wheel.
And it?s clear she?s eating
healthily as she tucks into a
mulligatawny soup and a side
salad between shots.
Here, Casey opens up about
losing weight for the sake of
Florence, why she?s delayed a
second breast reduction and
how becoming a parent has
affected her relationship with
Florence?s dad, businessman
Dane Goodson?
Hi Casey! You look amazing.
Are you feeling body con?dent?
I feel absolutely great. Getting

family now, so I need to be healthy.

than before I had
Florence and I have
size 36DD boobs, which is big
to other people, but to me
they?re tiny because I used
to be a 44GG!
How much weight did you
want to lose?
I wasn?t in any rush to lose weight
and wanted to take my time. I was
classed as obese at 12 stone as
I?m only ?ve foot two inches.
I was out of breath just taking
Florence up to her cot. I thought,
?I?ve never been this big before,
I?ve always been quite small. I?ve
got to do something about this.?
How did you lose the weight?
After I gave birth I started to
ramp up the yoga. That?s actually
how my Yoga Blitz app came
about. It?s a ?tness plan that
combines yoga poses with
high-intensity moves. I?ve
created ?ve-minute routines
where the yoga tones you,
but you burn fat with the
high-intensity stuff. I say
to do at least three of
the routines a day, so
15 minutes? worth.
Can beginners use
the app?
Yeah, there are easy
yoga moves on there.
I?ve got Yoga Bliss on
there as well, a section
which is all to do with
mental health. There?s
guided meditation,
con?dence-building blogs
and relaxing sound clips of

have a nutrition programme that?s

all about calorie counting. There
are loads of different meal ideas
on there which average around
300 calories for breakfast, 400
for lunch and 500 for dinner.
Have your followers been asking
for something like this?
Yes, I?ve posted yoga on my
Instagram for years and I
quali?ed as a yoga instructor
in the summer of 2017. After I
had Florence, I started doing
gentle yoga, but I realised that
wasn?t really getting the weight
off. That?s when I came up with
the idea of incorporating it with
high-intensity stuff, because
I couldn?t get to the gym. With
this, I could do it with Florence
lying next to me on the ?oor.
So I started posting stuff and
I had so many people messaging
me, asking for more. That?s
when I thought, ?I might as
well do something with this
and create an app.?
Did you feel pressure to lose
weight after giving birth?
No, I?ve always said my body?s
done an amazing thing by
growing a baby. I said I wouldn?t
put myself under any pressure to
lose weight ? I wanted to take my
time. But when I found out about
my health being in jeopardy, I
knew I needed to do something.
When you were pregnant, you
told us you were thinking of
having more surgery on your
boobs. Is that still the case?
I was considering having a
second breast reduction because
my boobs grew so much during
pregnancy. After having Florence,
I was the same size as I was
before my breast reduction, so I
thought, ?We want more children
and my boobs are going to get
bigger and out of control!? But
doing the Yoga Blitz and following
my nutrition plan, I don?t have
to. Getting bigger was my fault.

I massively overindulged when
I was pregnant.
What kind of things did you eat?
I became obsessed with
Krispy Kreme glazed raspberry
doughnuts and blueberry muf?ns.
I?d polish off a packet of biscuits
with a cup of tea in front of the
telly. I just thought, ?If I can?t
eat and enjoy it now, when
can I?? I didn?t have one bit
of guilt and I enjoyed every
single last bite! Now all the
weight has come off, so if I
can do it, anyone can.
Do you have any ?tness goals
for 2019?
I want to get pregnancy yoga
quali?cations and become a
yoga ?tness in?uencer. I want
to get ripped!
Has Dane been supportive?
He?s been amazing! When I
was eating lots, he was like,
?I?ll support you and eat
with you.? He called it the
sympathy diet. And once
I had Florence and I was
still quite big, he was like,
?Babe, you look amazing.
You?ve just had a baby,
don?t worry.? Now I?ve
been on a diet, he?s helped
and done it with me. He?s even
done yoga with me. Anything I do,
he?s behind me.
Do you want to lose any more
weight?
No. I don?t want to go drastic.
Would you like to change your
body in any other ways?
I?d like to get a full-on six-pack
? that would be the dream. I?m
happy my boobs are smaller.
They look a bit like dog ears now,
because the skin?s so stretched
from them being so big all of my
life. But there?s no point in having
surgery again, because we
de?nitely want more children.
I?ll wait to sort my boobs out
until I?ve had all the children.
How many kids do you want?
At the beginning, Dane was like,
?I want to have a big family, four
or ?ve children.? But then we had
Florence and no one tells you
how hard it is to be a parent.
When will you start trying
for more?
I?m going to give it a year or so.
How has Dane taken to being
a dad?
He found it very tough at the
beginning, especially as I was
poorly and he had to take a lot on
in the ?rst couple of weeks. Now
she?s laughing more and smiling,
he absolutely adores her.
Did becoming parents put
pressure on your relationship?
Those ?rst few months of
parenthood can be a test. So at
?rst we were like, ?Just the one,
we?ll just have Florence.? Now
she?s six months and so giggly ?
it?s not easier, but you?re used to
it. We?re like, ?OK, we want to
have more.? It all depends if we
have girls or boys.
Have you had any more
conversations about marriage?
We still de?nitely want to get
married, but I?m waiting for the
ring! We?re just buying our ?rst
house together, so we?re saving

money for that and we?ve had a

want to get married abroad ? it?s a
lot cheaper. A lot of people won?t
come because they won?t pay for
the ?ights, so that crosses a lot of
people off the list.
What?s the hardest thing you?ve
found since becoming a mum?
It was a massive change. I don?t
know what I used to do with
my time, because I don?t have
a minute free. I?m up at ?ve
every morning and I go to bed
at half-eight. Instead of getting
in at ?ve, I get up at ?ve! It?s hard
because you have to become
the most sel?ess person.
What?s the best part about being
a mum?
Just waking up to Florence?s
gorgeous smile every morning.
She?s so adorable. Every time I see
her smile it just melts my heart.
Which baby milestones has
she reached?
She?s sitting up on her own for
the ?rst time. She?s eating pur閑d
foods. She?s got a personality ?
she laughs and she giggles.
Dane is Love Island winner and
ex-pen salesman Jack Fincham?s
former boss. Do you get to go on
many date nights with him and
Dani Dyer?
No. I haven?t seen them. They?re
super busy and I?m super busy
being a new mum. We?ve not had
a chance to double date yet. We?ll
have to soon, when everyone?s a
bit less busy.
Your friend Vicky Pattison?s been
through a hard time since splitting
from her ?anc John Noble. Have
you been in touch?
We?ve spoken and she?s a really
strong girl. More fool him. She will
pick herself up, because that?s
what Vicky does. She?s full of
beans and she?s going to be ?ne.
I met Dane when I was 31 and
Vicky?s 31 now, so now she?s going
to meet the man of her dreams.
The news of their split must
have been upsetting for you,
because you?ve known Vicky
for years?
Yeah, it?s not nice when anyone
treats your friends horribly. I just
hope I don?t bump into him, that?s
all I can say!

aying goodbye to Strictly
Come Dancing has been
a little bit easier knowing
we have a sparkly new
talent show, The Greatest Dancer,
to look forward to.
The eight-part BBC series sees
Strictly ?s Oti Mabuse, former
Glee favourite Matthew Morrison
and pop star Cheryl Tweedy on a
quest to uncover the UK?s hottest
dance talent, while Alesha Dixon
and Jordan Banjo host.
We headed down to London?s
swanky Grosvenor House hotel
to get the lowdown on the show
set to take over our Saturday
nights. And by the looks of
things, mentors Oti, 28, Matthew,
40, and Cheryl, 35, are getting
along swimmingly, despite going
head to head with three
competing groups.
A prize of ,000 is up for
grabs, plus a chance to guest
perform on the next series of
Strictly, so the stakes couldn?t
be higher?
What inspired you all
to get into dancing?
Cheryl: The fact that
I was the fourth child
and my mother needed
some time. I literally
took to it like a duck
to water. I absolutely
loved it and I?ve done
it ever since.
Oti: I started in South
Africa, then I chose
to move to Germany,
where I did Strictly.
I was stolen from that show and
brought to the UK and I?ve done
Strictly here for four years.
Oti, we?re used to you performing
on Strictly. What?s it like being
on the other side of the desk?
I get to mentor. We choose three
acts we?re really passionate
about. It?s all about positivity and
being emotional about a certain
act and actually wanting to see
them get better. And for me, the
time we see them in the auditions
until they get to the final is going
to be special, because we don?t
judge them, we groom and
mentor them. We just fill them
with love and positivity.
28
Oti, Matthew and Cheryl
deliver their verdicts
Cheryl, how does TGD compare
to The X Factor?
There was more of a competitive
nature among us as judges on
The X Factor, probably because
Simon Cowell was sat there [she
pretends to stir a pot!]. It did feel
more competitive because at the
end somebody was winning a
massive record contract and you
felt responsible for their career.
With this show you?re helping
them win ,000, which is
awesome. It?s just a different vibe.
Does it get competitive between
the three of you?
Matthew: We each get three
groups, so we were basically
locked in a room to thrash it out
with each other and things got
a little heated. We?re very
passionate people, but at the
end of the day, we really stand
behind those final nine acts. Of
course, I want my three to be the
winners ultimately, but I?m
very happy with all
the acts and I

acts as well.
It?s not like
I?m out to
trip anyone
up down
the line.
Did you each choose your acts
based on the style of dancing
you perform?
O: I went for people who touched
me. The ballroom is my world
and there are little things I see
technically that I love.
M: Like Oti, I went with acts I had
a connection with, but also
who, as a mentor, I could
bring the most to.
C: I went with
somebody who
excited me as a
performer, and
not necessarily
somebody I could

You both have experience on
talent shows. How was it
seeing the acts go through
similar journeys?
J: Having dance experience
is cool as hosts. I like to
think we know what we?re
looking at. It was kind of
funny to try and influence
people in the audience who
were close to us.
How does this show stand
out from other television
dance competitions?
A: It?s the fact that the
power lies with the audience
? they?re brutal! They feel
that sense of responsibility.
I don?t think I?ve seen that
on another show.
J: They [the audience] felt
like they were the judges.
I?d be talking to Alesha and

Do you have a highlight

I take on a fab new challenge
to get in shape ? and pass
on my pearls of wisdom to
you in the process!
After having my fourth
child, Digby, last August,
I was ready to get my body
back, but a lot of eggnog and
mince pies over Christmas
derailed that idea. To help me
get back on track, over the next
few weeks I?ll be documenting
my progress as I attempt a big
lifestyle change.
My goals are simple. I don?t
care about being skinny ? I
want to feel good in my body.
My partner Alex bought me
a pair of leather trousers a
few months ago, but ? as you
can see ? I can?t ?t into them!
Plus, as a busy working mum
of four, I need energy, clarity
and a healthy mind to run my
business and my household.
Over the next four weeks,
with help from the brilliant
minds at The Life Lab,
I?ll be putting a plantbased diet and exercise
plan into action which ?
providing I stick with it ?
should leave me feeling ?tter,
with a clearer mind and a

I?ll also have my three
daughters, Poppy, seven,
Olive, ?ve, and Hattie, four,
on board with a healthier
diet because, as we all

is a happy family.

7 MI ND YOU R Ps & Qs
Manners are everything. They cost
nothing, but can make the biggest
impression. Holding a door open and
allowing them to walk through first,
not belching at the table or talking with
your mouth full and allowing your date to
order first are all good manners to adopt.
1 PU T YOU RS ELF OU T THE RE
Think outside the box about where you
could potentially meet fellow singletons.
Give some thought to where you might
meet like-minded suitors ? a new hobby,
a club or organisation. Like attracts
like, so putting yourself in a place and
situation where others have the same
interests as you is a great start.
4 GET GLA M
Be the best version of yourself and
dress to impress. First impressions count
and we invest aesthetically before we
do emotionally. Get set for success by
looking your best!
5 BE PR EPA RED
2 GIV E PEO PLE A CH AN CE
Prepare three interesting things about
yourself to share on the date. These should
include any hobbies or things you?d like
to do, an interesting anecdote and what
you?re passionate about in life. There is
nothing more boring than having nothing
to say about yourself.
Focus on the positive. Instead of latching on
to the negatives straight away, tease out what
you do like from your date by asking leading
questions about topics you?re interested in
and find out where you might hopefully have
some common ground.

Don?t show off and pull cheesy one-liners.
Confidence and humour are great, but ego,
arrogance and attitude are not hot.
9 BE PO SIT IVE
Don?t write someone off on the first date when
nerves are high. The second date is the one
that will truly determine if you?re up for seeing
them again or not, as this is when dating
becomes more relaxed. It gives you a chance
to see more of the real them, their general
manner and personality ? warts and all.
Wear a nice scent. Scent is one of
the sexiest and most alluring things
we can wear to help us appeal to
another. Avoid sweet, dessert-like,
powdery or flowery scents and
instead choose a subtle
musky, citrusy and earthy
scent. Don?t douse
yourself in it, either!
There?s nothing more
off-putting than
giving someone
a migraine with
perfume overkill.
8 PLAY IT CO OL
10 MA KE THE M WA IT
6 BEC OM E A QU IZM AS TER
Ask questions. Talking about ?me, me, me?,
what you like and what you think about
everything is not attractive unless you
reciprocate the chat. Use your date as a
fact-finding mission ? the more you find
out about them, the more you?ll see
what you may have in common. You?ll
also come across as intelligent and
interested, which people automatically
find attractive.
Don?t have sex on the
first date. A snog is fine,
but leave them wanting
more and keep that air of
mystery by not sleeping
with them straight away.
There?s plenty of time for
hanky-panky if all is going
well several dates in.

avina McCall is
indisputably the queen
of fitness DVDs and now
she?s back with another
new workout ? her 15th to date!
The 51-year-old has introduced
boxing into her latest offering,
Davina: Power Box & Tone, which
will, hopefully, whip us all into
shape after a month of booze
and chocolate!
When we catch up with Davina,
she?s in great shape and is clearly
reaping the benefits of her new
routine. She?s also quick to point
out that boxing is good for her
mental health, too.
Here, we chat to the fitness fan
about her famous abs, her love of
Greggs sausage rolls (yes, really!)
and why she thinks Big Brother
will make a comeback?
32
Hi Davina! Can you give us the
lowdown on your new DVD?
I?ve been doing some amazing
boxing classes with Sarah
Gorman, who I worked with on my
last DVD. I?ve been getting some
incredible results and I?ve found
that it?s helped me mentally as
well as physically. The DVD is
broken down into sections so
you can dip in and out, and it?s
such a brilliant stress-buster. My
favourite thing about it is that you
don?t need any equipment. Sarah
wears gloves that are weighted,
but they?re only half a kilo on each
hand. They will give you a good
workout, but you can do a great
job without them as well.
What?s the secret of your
rock-hard abs?
I think it?s genetic because I
generally put on weight around
my bum and my thighs. My
stomach is the last thing to go.
The boxing I?ve been doing is
unbelievable for your abs and
your waist. And ballet, barre and
Pilates are great too.
What?s your advice to people who
are exercising for the first time?
One of the reasons I made
workout DVDs for home is so
that people can feel comfortable.
I always say that if you?re starting
my workout DVD, just do the
warm-up. It?s meant to be a nice,
slow introduction to your workout,
so just do that a few times.
Sometimes it?s as simple as
learning how the moves work
because you think, ?Bloody hell,
everyone else knows how to do a
hook or a punch or an upper-cut
and I don?t.? Well, I will teach you
on this DVD and then you can go
to a power box class and rule it!

It?s easier than it used to be.
I often find myself in service

ago I would have a sandwich
and crisps, no question. The
good thing now is that there are
better shops in service stations,
so I?ll always try to find

What are your food guilty
pleasures?
Greggs sausage rolls. Oh my
God, a Greggs sausage roll
is so good. They?re 300 calories
and I thought they?d be at least
600, so I was very pleasantly
surprised. I don?t count calories
generally, but that still felt like
a win. They?re the best.

Then I forget about it for six

I also feel happier in my skin
now, which definitely makes
you feel more relaxed anyway.
Where do you think that has
come from?
Recovery definitely taught me
a lot about self-acceptance
and about not really caring what
other people think. There?s a
great line that says, ?What other
people think of me is none of
my business,? and it?s so true.
The most important things to
me are what my friends and
family think. They?re my priority.
Are you sad about Big Brother
finishing?
It?s the end of an era, but there?s
still a small part of me that thinks
they?re going to rest it for a bit
and then bring it back on another
channel. They just need to
modernise it and get a fresh
pair of eyes on it. It needs

I still think it?s got legs. It?s such
a brilliant concept.
If it launched again would you
consider returning?
I don?t think I would because
it?s a massive commitment.
Emma Willis would be able to
vouch for this too. Both of us
watched every single episode of
that show. We?ve both got kids
and that?s hours of the evening
you?re not going to be able to
spend with them. It?s a lot to do.
It also means working every
Friday night, and then I would
often work more of the weekend
too. It envelops your whole life.
For that reason, I don?t think I
could physically do it.
Do you ever consider quitting
TV for a quieter life?
I think I?m the oldest jobbing
entertainment presenter. I?m
really proud of that. I put that
kind of pressure on myself in
my forties and told myself that
probably by my fifties it would
all just peter out. But now I?m
here, I?m like, ?No, I?m not going
to let that happen.? I?m enjoying
life and I love working. I?ve got
a nice balance and I can take
the school holidays off, which is
more than most working mums
can do, so I?m very lucky in
that respect. I love what I do
and I have no intention of
stopping at all.

I caught up with the
lovely Courtney Act
in London recently
? I didn?t even
realise she?s an
Aussie as I didn?t see
her on Celebrity Big
Brother. We spent the
whole time talking about Oz and
when she showed me a video of
herself as Shane, I was like, ?No
way!? I could not believe they?re
the same person.
But the most amazing thing
happened. She knows a very
dear friend of mine in Oz who I?d
lost contact with and she got me
his number. I was so happy!
She is competing to represent
Australia at the Eurovision Song
Contest with her song Fight For
Love. I think it?s a great show
and I know it?s loved in Europe,
but personally I?d much prefer to
host the show than perform on it!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY,

Millie turns ?ve on 7 January and
I actually can?t believe it. For a

and has so much empathy that
sometimes I forget how little she is.
It?s like she should be turning eight.
We?ll de?nitely be throwing her a

her school friends over. I?ll update
you next week on how it went.
WHAT A THROWBACK
I didn?t think those 90s dolls of
me were still ?oating around until
a lovely little girl called Freya gave
me one to ?update? at a recent

were all in the bargain bin until
this one resurfaced. As you can
see in the photo, I gave myself a
beard and mo, so it looks just like
me now... minus the eight-pack.
I was sent a whole heap of
dolls when they were ?rst

thinking, ?Who am I

Salt overload!
Many of us are embarking on a
health kick after overindulging
at Christmas and one thing we
all need to watch is our salt
intake. Sadly, a report by Public
Health England has shown that
voluntary action by the food
industry to bring our salt
consumption down to safe
levels has only seen 52 per cent
of targets met. Processed
meats, soups and biscuits are
the biggest salt culprits and
campaigners have declared it
a ?national tragedy?. The simple
solution is to cook from fresh
at home, then you know exactly
what?s going into your meals.
I?m guilty of adding a bit of
salt to meals ? it?s such a Greek
thing to do. But as long as your
blood pressure and cholesterol
are OK, I think you can get
away with adding a little bit.

TV presenter turned life coach Jeff Brazier gives his
top tips on how to beat your vices in 2019
e?s best known as the loveable TV
presenter who often crops up on
shows including This Morning and
Loose Women, but Jeff Brazier has
managed to carve out a successful second
career for himself as a life coach.
And he?s the perfect man for the job, having
suffered so much heartbreak and tragedy in
his own life. Jeff?s ex, Jade Goody, mum to his
sons Bobby, 15, and Freddy, 14, passed away
from cancer at the age of 27, while his dad,
Stephen Faldo, died in the Marchioness boat
disaster on the River Thames in 1989.
But the resilient star has managed to find
his calling in helping others overcome their
obstacles, and is now ready to give new!
readers his best advice on turning your New
Year?s resolutions into a reality.
When it comes to vices such as drinking
alcohol, smoking, sugar intake and caffeine
addiction, a lot of people struggle to cut
down or give up completely. And often our
best intentions can be quickly derailed once
the novelty of the task wears off.
Here, Jeff, 39, explains the most sensible
ways to ditch your demons to ensure
long-term success?

If you?re looking to cut down on boozing,
decide on your maximum allowance
of drinks per month. If you have a bad
week and go over your limit, just balance
it out next month. It?s all about testing
your self-discipline, so don?t give up.
Keep a tally of how many drinks you?ve
had and don?t let a moment of weakness
derail your efforts.

While decreasing negative habits
is going to send you on a journey to
discovering a better you, what about
the habits you could increase, like
exercise, meditation, mindfulness
or positivity? If your aim is to be
more positive, why not set a daily
target for kind words or deeds
towards others? Start low and then
build it up until before you know it,
you?re a bundle of good vibes!
3 BA N THE BA R!
1 SH OP SEN SIB LY
Firstly, you can?t drink or eat something
that you don?t have in the fridge or
cupboard, so controlling your shopping
habits is crucial. If you?re keen to cut
down on those sugary treats, there are
plenty of tasty, healthy alternatives, so
stock up on fresh fruit and nuts.
Take the time to think about your social
habits. Common sense suggests that
you can only stand in a bar so long
before you end up with a drink in your
hand, so perhaps consider spending
time somewhere less associated with
drinking. But at some point you?ll have
to challenge yourself by standing in
a bar sipping a glass of lemonade. You
may also need to ignore that bottle of
wine in your fridge!
5 TAK E IT SLO W
The problem with
resolutions is
that they?re
all or nothing
and cutting
something out
entirely is a big
ask. Yes, it?s
impressive for
the time that you
last, but then when
you make a mistake
you often go straight
back to your usual habits
because you tell yourself you?ve ?failed?.
Try to gradually decrease your vices and
make sure you allow for momentary lapses.
You?ll do much better with less pressure!

er curvaceous body
has been admired by
men and women
alike for over two
decades, but Kelly Brook
recently decided she wanted
to overhaul her diet in a bid
to slim down.
The model ? who?s been a
petite size 8 and a curvier size
14 over the years ? admitted to
us that she gained a few extra
pounds after falling head over
heels for hunky Italian Jeremy
Parisi. We don?t blame her! But
with her 40th just around the
corner, Kelly ? who is currently
a size 12 ? admits she would
love to get down to a size 10.
?I?d be so happy,? the
gardening enthusiast tells
new! with a smile when we sit
down for a chat in the library
of London?s plush Charlotte
Street Hotel. Making herself
comfortable, Kel takes off
her sky-high stilettos as she
admits she realised she felt
?fat? while working on her
picturesque garden in the Kent
countryside last September.
?I was actually a little bit
over the top end of my BMI,?
she explains. ?I would be out
gardening and my back would
go and I?d think to myself,
?I can?t be like this.? I?ve got a
little frame and a 30in back, so
I needed to lose weight.?
Kelly even admits that
she became so unhappy with
her ?gure that she started
tweaking her sel?es to make
herself look slimmer before
sharing them on Instagram.
But during our chat,
refreshingly honest Kel doesn?t
just spill the beans on her
recent weight loss journey,
which she has achieved with
the help of SlimFast. She
also confesses that she and
boyfriend Jeremy, 33, are

Kelly revealed her slimmer

actively trying for a baby. Hurrah!
Sadly, their efforts haven?t paid
off just yet, but she?s not dwelling
on it. In fact, she jokes she might
not even be cut out to be a mum
because she?s not a morning
person. You and us both, Kel!
Here, the TV presenter spills
the beans on why she?s not
putting pressure on Jeremy
to propose and why she hates
her back fat?
Did you relax your diet
and exercise regime after
meeting Jeremy?
Yes. It was nice to have a minute
not thinking about my weight.
But with my job I want to wear
cute clothes, I want to look
nice in a bikini. I don?t want
to feel overweight.
Did Jeremy ever comment on
your weight gain?
He called me his little balloon! So
when I started losing weight he
was like, ?You?re not my little
balloon any more.?
How much weight have you lost?
It?s 15lb, and I?m still losing weight
now. Hopefully by February I?ll be
back down to a size 10. I?m a size
12 now. I turn 40 this year so to be
a size 10? I?d be so happy!
What size were you when you
started using SlimFast?
A 14 to 16. I told myself it was
?ne, I?m getting older, I?ve had
my years of being the sexy bikini
girl, I can let it go. But I got a
really hard time from trolls about
putting on weight and I just
thought, actually it?s just me
being lazy. I?m so glad I did lose
the weight because I feel so
much better now.
Did you realise you
were gaining
weight?
I didn?t feel
any different
until I started
losing weight
and then

15lb weight loss
and reveals for
the ?rst time
that she?s

with boyfriend
Jeremy Parisi
What made you decide to
slim down?
It came to a point in my life where
I was like, ?I need to sort this
out.? I went on Loose Women
and afterwards people were
calling me out for airbrushing my
pictures. So I asked myself why
I was retouching them and it was
because I was fat. And I was
ready to do something about it.
Do you think all celebrities
should come clean about editing
their photos?
You should be honest about
Photoshopping, but I wasn?t
because I didn?t really know why
I was doing it. Then I thought,
?Why should I just look like that
in a photo? I should look like that
in real life.? It?s terrible when
you?re papped going through
the airport and you don?t look
like your holiday pictures.
Did the nasty comments about
your body ever upset you?
There were a couple of times
when I felt sad that the old me
wasn?t around. I?ve always liked
the way I look and doing red
carpets, but I haven?t been doing
many lately because I?ve been
hibernating in the countryside.
My new job at Heart FM radio
and being the new face of
SlimFast has made me ready to
go out there again and given me
my con?dence back.
Has your weight loss improved
your sex life?
Yes, for sure! It boosts your sex
life amazingly. Oh, did you mean
sex with Jeremy? I thought you
meant with other people! I?m only
joking [laughs].
How are things going with
Jeremy?
Really good.
You?ve spoken quite openly
about wanting to get married.
Will it be on the cards soon?
We don?t know yet. If it
happens, it happens. We?ve
37
?I DON?T WANT TO
JUST LOOK GOOD,
I WANT TO BE FIT!?
got a lifestyle transition at the
moment with work and we
don?t know where we?ll be based,
so we need to get that sorted,
and the wedding and the babies
will come at a later date. It?s not
something we?re focused on at
the moment. We just love being
together. Who knows? With
Brexit, Jeremy might have to
go back and I?ll have to get
a new one!
People often ask you when you?ll
get married and have children.
Does the interest annoy you?
No, it doesn?t grate on me
because it?s a completely
normal question. People see two
people in love and think they?d
make lovely babies together.
Unfortunately it?s not down to me,
it?s down to Mother Nature as
well. As much as we try, if it
doesn?t happen, it doesn?t
happen. I can?t force it.
So you do want children?
Yeah, it?s not that I?m not
having them. It?s just a
?what will be will be?
kind of thing.
Are you broody at
the moment?
I love being around kids
for a few hours, but then
I love when they go home!
We have such a clean and
tidy house. Jeremy literally
vacuums as people walk
out of the door. There are
a lot of up sides to having
children, but you?ve got to
compromise. The house
isn?t going to be quite the
same with the school run
every day. There are things
you?ve got to do to have
kids and I don?t know if I?m
cut out for that.
You?d be a great mum!
I can?t even get myself up in the
mornings [laughs]. They?ll be
getting me up.
Over the years you?ve ?uctuated
between a size 8 and a size 14.
When were you at your happiest?
A size 10 to 12. That way I keep
my curves, have a nice face and
I?m not too skinny. I was only a
size 8 when I was on Strictly.
My dad passed away and my

It took a toll on my body. It wasn?t
from dieting, it was from dealing
with my mental health and stress.
I?m obviously a comfort eater.
When I met Jeremy I was like,
?Let?s just eat.? And we did!
What was your biggest diet
downfall?
Having a glass of wine.
Have you cut down?
Yeah, I have a glass here and
there, but I don?t really fancy it
now. The gym has helped curb
my drinking and SlimFast has
de?nitely helped with my eating.
How have you changed your
eating habits at home?
I eat breakfast now ? before
I?d just have coffee. And I?m
trying to eat really clean, but not
cut anything out. I still eat rice
and pasta.

STEPS TO A
HAPPY AND
HEALTHY 2019!
TV fave Dr Dawn Harper shares her advice to help
make this the year you beat your health woes
I
f you?ve overindulged during
the festive period, it?s safe
to say you?re not the only
one. But if you?re feeling
sluggish, there?s no better time
to take the bull by the horns and
implement some practical health
tips that will boost your energy,
1
improve your sleep and keep
stress levels to a minimum.
Sound too good to be
true? Not so, says Dr Dawn
Harper, who tells new!
how making small tweaks
to your lifestyle could really
have an impact in 2019?
2
GET YOUR ENERGY LEVELS UP
BEAT
ANX IETY
AND
STR ESS
Get out in the fresh air and do something that
makes you puff for half an hour each day. Getting
active might be the last thing you feel like doing
if you?re lacking motivation and feeling tired, but
I promise you will reap the bene?ts very quickly!
3
WORDS: Georgia Trevitt PHOTOS: Getty Images
4
Limit your time on social
media and replace it with
some daily ?me? time. That?s
not sel?sh. We live busy lives
and sometimes it?s hard to
get off the treadmill. But
spending part of each day
doing something you enjoy
will reduce stress and boost
your mood. You?ll be a better
friend, partner and colleague
as a result ? how can that
be sel?sh?!
KEEP YOUR SKIN CLEAR
To give your skin a glow, eat a
healthy, well-balanced diet that
includes all the food groups. If
you do need to exclude a food
group for any reason, speak to a
dietician about how to replace
any lost nutrients in your diet. I?m
a fan of regularly moisturising
to combat the stresses of
modern life on our skin and I
also rub nail oil into my cuticles
every evening before bed.
SLEEP BETTER
Exercise will help you sleep better, but it?s also
a good idea to take a pen and paper to bed
with you. How often have you remembered
something as you?re dozing off? You can?t be
bothered to get out of bed to make a note of
it, but the worry of forgetting could keep you
awake. Being able to jot it down will allow you
to clear your head and drift off. But don?t use
your phone to make that note ? keep phones
outside the bedroom if you?re having dif?culty
sleeping. Blue light and the buzz of incoming
messages play havoc with a good snooze.
5
FIG HT OFF INF ECT ION S
Wash your hands regularly. It surprises
most people to know that most coughs
and colds are spread by touch rather
than coughs and sneezes. Viruses
can live for several hours outside the
body, but simple soap and water go
a long way to keeping them at bay.

Chloe Madeley opens up about her plans for a second wedding
,
her gruelling ?tness regime and her body insecurities
fter four years of dating,
Chloe Madeley and
rugby star James Haskell
got hitched in an intimate
ceremony in front of friends and
family a fortnight ago.
The pair said ?I do? at All
Saints Church in Berkshire on
15 December in front of guests
including Chloe?s famous parents,
Richard Madeley and Judy
Finnigan, rugby player Paul
Doran-Jones and his wife,
TV presenter Zoe Hardman.
Just days before the wedding,
Chloe, 31, sat down with us to
talk about her big day and the
couple?s plans for a second
wedding in 2020.
Personal trainer Chloe, who
often shares sel?es of her
shredded body with fans on
Instagram, was also excited
to tell us about her new book,
The Fat-Loss Blitz.
We can?t wait to hear more?
A
Hi Chloe, congrats on your
wedding!
Thank you. The legal wedding is
basically me and James signing
a piece of paper. Our actual
wedding is in 2020, so that will
be the big, fun one.
Is that all planned?
It?s kind of underway.
It?s really hard to plan
a wedding that?s
two years away.
We?re getting some
ideas together.
Do you know where
the second wedding
will be held?
It will be on a
beach and it will
be great! We do
have a few ideas,
but everyone is just
like, ?Let?s wait
until 2019 and come
back to it then.? I
think I?m already
annoying everyone.
40
Would you call yourself
a bridezilla?
No, de?nitely not. I like
to be very organised
and I like to be the one
in control, which is
a bit of a downfall
of mine, but it?s
come in quite
handy with the
wedding planning.
And I actually
enjoy it. It doesn?t
drive me mad and
I don?t freak out.
And James is so
relaxed about the
whole thing. If he tried to
help more I?d probably hate
it, so that?s ?ne.
Has he had any input?
Yeah, all he keeps talking about
is the canap閟. And he?s also like,
?I don?t want you to look like a
princess. I don?t want to see
a big, puffy dress.?
James and
Chloe plan
to tie the
knot twice
Chloe with
mum Judy and
dad Richard
You?re in amazing shape. What
are your top tips for getting ?t?
Number one is to get active.
That doesn?t mean you have to
go to the gym ? you don?t need
to do that to get results ? but you
have to be active. Get up, go
for a walk, cycle to work or clean
the house. The second
thing you have to do is
eat the right foods ?
lots of protein, ?bre,
vegetables, and a
moderate amount of fats
and carbohydrates. And
the third thing to keep
an eye on is water
intake. It?s really
important for your
health. So if you
are not already
drinking three to
four litres a day,
you can slowly
start to work
up to that.
What?s a typical
workout for you?
I do weightlifting
every day and
have done for six
years. The only
thing that really changes is, if I?m
going into a fat-loss phase, I
will slowly and gradually
increase my cardio for
a few weeks.
How do you keep
yourself motivated?
I like to have a goal
to work towards,
such as a party,
holiday or the
wedding. But you
have to ?gure out
what kind of person
you are. What is
your way? You have
to hold on really tight
to it every day, because
you can bet your butt that
when you?re hungry and when
you?re tired, it?s a very hard goal
to stick to. You have to remember
the end game.
What?s your favourite part of
your body?
My favourite and least favourite
part of my body is the same and
that?s my mid section. That?s
because when I get in great
shape I can see my abs. And I?d
say, pretty much immediately, as
soon as I?m off my diet or out of
shape, it?s the ?rst place to balloon.
Do you ever have days when
you feel self-conscious about
the way you look?
Oh my God, yes! I think we all
have unrealistic expectations
of how we should look facially
and physically. I go to great
lengths to show people when
I?m not in shape and to be very
honest when people comment
under a photo, ?Oh, you and
James are couple goals!? and
I?ll be like, ?No, we ?ght.? We?re
all women and we all struggle.
Would you ever train your
mum, Judy?
No, my job as a ?tness
professional and my parents
are two completely different
things. They?re my mum and
dad. They?re aware of my job
Showing off
her abs
and I?m aware of their job,
but not at any point do the
jobs ever merge.
Tell us about your book?
With my ?rst book, The
4-Week Body Blitz, I
catered to an audience
who love to train, but
didn?t know how to
structure their diets to
get results. I missed
out on targeting those
who were following me

You returned last year after

P: It?s terrifying how fast four

Hi Melody. Are you expecting to

I did Popstar To Operastar in 2011

to keep my head up. I have this
fascination of looking at what
my blades are doing. My partner
keeps asking me if I?m actually

Do you feel under pressure to be
good because you?re a dancer?
Yeah. I have some advantages
with arms and timing, but
learning how to ice skate has
nothing to do with dancing. It?s
a totally different world.
What does Ola think of you
doing the show?
She?s not very sympathetic.
Ola came to watch me and she
was standing at the sidelines,

11lb. When I stopped, within four

?I?m so fat, I can?t get comfortable,? I
moaned to John. ?Don?t be daft,? he replied.
But I couldn?t hide my embarrassment. At
a size 26, I weighed almost 18st ? no surprise,
given my poor diet. For breakfast, I?d have
several slices of toast with lashings of
butter, followed by sandwiches and crisps
for lunch. Then there?d be the endless
biscuits and chocolate throughout the day.
And because I didn?t enjoy cooking, I?d order
Chinese takeaways for dinner with John.
As I tucked into our massive Christmas
dinner, I pushed my weight worries to the
back of my mind. But my mum, Irene, was
taking photos and before she left, I asked
to see them.
?There you are,? she said, scrolling
through her phone.
?That can?t be me,? I gasped, staring
at the enormous woman in the photo.
I?d been avoiding full-length mirrors
for years and had no idea I looked
so bad.
The next day, I called my best
friend, Siobhan. ?I don?t want to
look like this any more. I?m sick
of being big,? I sobbed.

If anyone knew how to lose weight, it
was Siobhan. She?d lost 12st, so I agreed.
In January 2017, I went to my first meeting.
I set myself a target to lose 7st and was
pleased the diet plan wasn?t too restrictive.
I could still eat pasta and jacket potatoes
as long as they were fresh and homemade.
After ditching all the junk food from our
cupboards, I started planning our meals,
making shepherd?s pie with lean mince,
butternut squash lasagne and homemade
pizzas using pittas or wraps for the base.
In my first week, I lost 6lbs and already
felt less achy and lethargic. Within a
month, I?d shed 1st. For the first time,
I didn?t feel self-conscious about
running around with the kids.
Eleven months later and I?d lost
nearly 8st. At just 10st, I could fit
into a size 10. Because of our
healthy diet, John lost 2st, too.
Before, I could only find clothes
in plus-size stores, but now people

cringing. It was my 26th birthday
and my grandma, Pam, had
bought me a pair of size 26
pyjamas. Later that evening, I tried them on in
private, but I felt sick as I realised they didn?t
fit. ?How did I get so fat?? I cried.
Devastated, I grabbed two chocolate bars
from my secret bedroom snack drawer and
wolfed them down. I felt so guilty, but I?d been
overweight all my life. I?d tried several diets,
from Weight Watchers to meal replacement
shakes, but after losing a few stone, I?d pile
the weight back on again.
My weight issues started at 13 after I was
teased at school and developed social anxiety.
I suffered panic attacks and refused to leave
my bedroom. To cope, I filled my bedside
drawer with crisps and biscuits.
By the time I was 24, I weighed
21st 5lbs. I?d skip breakfast and eat
healthy salads during the day, but
at night, I?d let loose ? tucking into
pizzas and chips, then snacking on
chocolate until bedtime.

April 2012 and I?d become

My weight wasn?t an issue growing up,

my eating spiralled. I was the ultimate party

frozen pizzas and burgers and

In just a year, I gained 6st.
